ATJ is really great in this
Very subtle performance but I’ve grown to really rock with it

def agree, he wasn't bad in this to me. a lot of the hate I've seen for his performance feels forced, I don't even normally like him in movies either but I thought he suited his character well
He’d have an amazing frontier story
He'd probably do an amazing Blood Meridian. Hope the movie still goes through even with the weirdo news about McCarthy.
Just watched. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Unlike The VVitch something actually happens from start to finish. So I'm never just bored pretending this is a masterpiece.
And it's clear where the influence lies with some of the character demises, it's more poetic and harkens back to the sort of demure, solemn, dramatic depictions of silent film era horror as opposed to modern gore and shock.
But there's still a lot of gore to satisfy those with morbid curiosities.
I also enjoy the many different curve balls he implements to create tension and horror. Many scenes he could have just did a stock jump scare but he surprises me with those wide panning shots and weird frames to suggest that something is gonna happen.
Good technique. It's rare that I ever really feel tension in horror movies since I'm so desensitized to them.
8.5/10
Random witch slight.

He was honestly a highlight for me, his character just being the only “normal” one throughout all the nonsense was good
Spooky s***:
ATJ:“Breh what are y’all talking about
”
Harry Styles could’ve done Hoults role easily and perhaps better. Eggers gave him nothing to work with. Just acted like he’s about to pee his pants the entire movie. At least Styles would’ve provided a more captivating presence than pest-face Hoult.

Hoult was one of the highlights for me. Surprised to see A-TJ praise tbh cuz his scenes made the movie drag imo

Took a ting with me to watch last night. She was grabbing me tight from the gore stuff and lil jump scares. She doesn't watch horror usually. Perfect movie for a date night
I wanna see a western from him
him doing an adaptation of the 2017 novel In the Distance would be
synopsis:
The story follows Håkan Söderström, a young Swedish immigrant, who becomes stranded in the American West during the 19th century. Separated from his brother, whom he intended to join in New York, Håkan embarks on an epic journey across the vast and often hostile landscapes of the frontier. As he navigates the challenges of isolation, survival, and the human desire for connection, Håkan’s odyssey unfolds as a meditation on loneliness, identity, and the myth of the American West

Eh I wouldn’t say so, that man was mostly shook and adamant about not getting his b**** taken
