Paredes can shoot on the bench in 2022 without getting a second yellow but a meaningless dive is worthy of a second yellow only possible with VAR trickery. It’s clear that VAR is another tool for more powerful teams but this competition has been particularly ludicrous. The most absurd was the goal taken away from Croatia.

“Meaningless” in a game to go to the semi final of the world cup

Do you watch football? Refs only give yellow for diving when players pretend that it is a penalty. For example, what Mbappé did against Morocco. Of course, VAR checked and gave the penalty anyway.
This dive is meaningless because of where it is on the pitch. The player also only dives because the ref was protecting Paredes, one of the dirtiest players out there. (Once again, I know that because he used to play for PSG.) You maybe don’t have a brain aneurysm but then that would not change much.

The fact it's far from goal doesn't automatically rule out a foul, and if the referee was letting Paredes get away with physical play earlier, that still wouldn't justify simulating contact. Those are separate decisions.

If you have a tumor in your brain just say so it’s okay

This is a just a normal collision between two players. Happens all the time when you are running with speed with a ball

  • I am not saying there isn't any favoritism for Argentina. Just not in that particular situation

    “Referee robbed for Argentina”

Why wasn’t there a whistle for this then?

The thing with football is that the rules allow for some room of interpretation for the referees. 7 out of 10 referees would've given Embolo the red card for the dive, 3 probably not. Luck is always a factor and VAR hasn't really made that situation any better

Im not defending Argentina at all. Just saying that some situations people are picking apart don't make much sense

I've been for France (and Brazil) since day 1

I agree I think the smaller situations get picked apart because of the larger picture especially since we only get these games every 4 years

I do hope the England game isn't stained by bad refs decisions. I do want Argentina to win that one tho just to get the WWE storyline of a France Argentina rematch with France winning this time
