my undertsanding from my like 6 or 8 economics and buisness courses ive taken is that in marx, communism is the end goal of socialism.

but communism can only exist in a post scarcity society, which is currently impossible unless we mine like asteroid and colonize planets and s*** lol. so people who read marx and think communism how its laid out in marx is a solution to modern issues, is like seeing someone drowning and instead of helping them saying they might evolve gills someday lol

i think a lot of people who support socialism dont do it with the intention of a communist revolution tho.

also almost all societies are mixed societies, meaning they pick and take characteristics from command, democratic, socialist societies etc. very few are just one of these things. i think most people who support “socialism” are just people who want more wealth equality, social supports and workers rights.

i went to a protest at my univeirsty a couple years ago because quebec brought in a 5k a semester tax on english univeristies.

and at the protest was a group of like 8 people who had communist signs and tried to co-opt it for themsleves.

they were the most stereotypical, chronically online, frail people imaginable. it was hilarious. idk how else to describe it. overweight, blue hair women. super skinny frail men who couldnt make eye contact. it was like a walking stereotype

and they randomly started chanting “WE ARE THE VICTIMS” and nobody but them repeated it

Americans love their treats too much to do a revolution of any kind

They need to find a way to work around that maybe

Like a plan for how they wouldn't die
