comic review

this is a masterpiece comic imo. it feels like a bridge between the alan moore watchmen revitalization of superhero comics and the pre 80s corny super hero comics. where they were putting like mature themes in the comics, for the people who are now adults that grew up with them

the reference to aids being a lab virus, to the government using viruses in a lab (in the mid 80s), to animal welfare, to animal man being sympathetic to the “bad guy” of the lab tests. i think was very forward thinking for a classic super hero comics from its era.

the notion of humans destroying the planet and kinda flipping the principles super heroes represent on their head. the metaphor of animal man trying to make a career, doing something he dreamed of and helping others, only for the situation to neglect the well being of his familly. with that being liek double métaphored with the cat being fed to the dogs. just like top class writing.

HUGE W Et for 2 immaculate picks, with the many deaths of and this comic. and also huge kudos for venturing out of your comfort zone and picking a superhero comics.
