Tuneout 🎨fuegomy grandpa passed away a few years back and he told me his biggest regret in life is he focused on work and doing the “right thing” so much he missed out on so many experiences. and now he has the money and time but his body and mind can’t do it so it was all relatively pointless.
that terrified me.
i was talking to bruises about a course in univeristy taught by a spiritual care worker, whose job was when people are dying to find them a priest (or equivalent) but a lot of people who die even thought theyre agnostic or atheist they still want to have some sort of meaningful “ritual” thats based in their beliefs, or their family’s religion or something. which she would do for them.
anyway, she talked about this book called the top 5 regrets of the dying that are about the most common regrets of people in palliative care.

thankfully my grandfather is someone who never let his age or financial status get in the way of being the closest version of the guy he wanted to be. he got married young but if he wanted to visit anywhere he would drag his family with him and made it work financially
