they ratfucked newfoundland into poverty and set up everyone here to work for fishing plantations or logging. the british representatives would come here and sell the fish, keep all the money. while people here woudl have to walk for weeks to go to logging site, sleep on tree bows while the representatives had houses. were so poor that they had to survive off the land through farming and eating the fish they caught and building their houses themsleves.

there was no medical care. everyone just took care of their own

during world war 1 they used newfoundlanders as cannon foddder, killing over 90% of the entire enlisted group from here. which also ratfucked the country, since there were no able bodied men left.

this was up until the mid 40s this was going on.

well maybe i assume my ancestors came from britain but I never took a dna test or anything.

there were a lot of irish and british people here. the thick accent my grandparents have, isnt the irish one. so i assume they were from britain but who knows.

newfoundland was the first place in the americas “disocvered” by europeans, when leif erikson, a viking, landed here in 1000. but they left after a few years because they couldnt grow anything with the climate here, the weather is deadly and they were fighting with indeignous people.

then in the late 1400s, john cabot, an italian explorer, “rediscovered” it. then king henry VII named it newfoundland, then shipped out the poorest british people possible to come here to take advantage of the fishing.

so at some point in time my ancestors were i guess so poor they came here lol
