I think because being yourself and being peaceful unless your life is under threat, is the core tenent of being a man. individuality, trying to solve problems diplomatically, is stamped out in military training. and it takes mental fortitude to resist not falling for propaganda and joining.

The navy seal archetype of manliness, just creates a cycle of violence that damages the people who participate in it and people come back from it so traumatized they can barely function in society. or just cant. I dont think thats what being a man is, thats a victim

I think the things that the military teaches you is core masculinity. Discipline, responsibility, physicality and mental fortitude are all traits I think everyone wouldn’t hurt to have.
In my unfortunate opinion war is just politics by another means so I think it’s inevitable and so are young men who looking for a fight that’s maybe bigger then them

i think those aspects are, but those are just some of the aspects of it. its not a black and white thing like i phrased it.

I will say though, by choosing to go down that career path, those traits are usually eroded by the time you get back because youre so traumatized. many people are just completely dependant on others because they’re so ill. So it’s not the right avenue to learn those traits. outside of the morality part of killing innocent people so billionaires in the usa make more money
