Unsticky this s*** tbh. Dude is finished, I’m still waiting on that unreleased album trilogy. I’ll never check for a new release again after that stunt

Also this sound is done and dudes cliche therapy accountability raps are just as lame as his release strategies at this point. Stick to skateboarding, go back to trash wang clown

Stick to modeling. You’re way hotter than you are nice at rapping

    Dude hot as s*** ngl

"cliche therapy accountability raps" is so cringe bro

literally any artist's music can be summed up in a handful of buzzwords with a derogatory tone sprinkled in and it's always cringe

but you seem to be s***posting anyway

I feel you but some artists who are this repetitive kind of deserve it/ask for it

Love Navy Blue and enjoyed this album but this whole camp has been kinda disappointing me when it comes to progression.

Sword and Soaring was amazing and this feels like a regression.

I get that everybody wants something different for their music/career but it feels like everybody is turning into Curren$y.

I don’t even think it’s their fault just the ecosystem of hip hop is so f***ed at the moment that it doesn’t really provide the resources or opportunities that birth progression.

Would love to hear you elaborate on that first part

Same. I don’t even disagree necessarily, I do kinda see where he coming from.

Basically what @2words said but less ragebaity

The honest truth is lotta these kinda rappers be one note, navy's reprise was kind of a shock cause the production was very awake and full of drums.

But I think as far as content yeah, everyone’s just on some jadakiss/curren$y s*** where it’s moreso just giving you the same not even anything bad but just more of the same.

Which is fine if that’s what you want and/or if music’s not even your primary source of income (like aint dude a model and skateboarder?)

out they whole camp MIKE definitely has shown hella progression & even learning to play with different genres. Bro used to be depressing as hell and now his albums are more textured and more braggadocius and more “uplifting” in a way. MIKE is an example of artist progression

Navy Blue is 29 and has dropped at least an album a year for the last six years. His writing caught up to his life experience a couple projects ago and he's kinda running out of things to talk about. That alone isn't a huge issue but the frequency and volume of releases makes it stand out.

Idk what the general consensus on Ways of Knowing is but it felt like he was on the verge of finding the full potential of his sound. The Sword and The Soaring was imo the highest level of the more ethereal dreamlike aspect of his music but Ways of Knowing sounded like a more well rounded artist. Not even my favorite Navy project but it felt like an evolution.

Coming off of The Sword and The Soaring this album is just kind of a let down. Not bad but after such an amazing project he should have taken some real time off to live life and take his sound to the next level.

I feel the same way about MIKE after Burning Desire.

Feels like this crop of artists is stuck in a loop of constantly recording music without really living in between projects and working on expanding the sound.

Obviously signing to labels and whatnot comes with its own issues but these dudes seem like they need some kind of real structure/ team that will help take them to the next level musically.

Check my edit. Burning Desire to Showbiz is one album and i disagree lol

Plus musically that s*** was an expansion, that might be MIKE’s most “outside” album outside of them pinballs

He even got a live version of that album. I think musically showbiz showed progression

respect the quiet part out loud s***. MIKE def not exempt from this even w the strides he's made tonally / production wise

I actually feel you on that because I've seen what Showbiz songs do live. It does feel a bit like Disco! pt2 to me though.

Idk the production on Burning Desire is just so lively and out there it felt like the biggest leap he's made.

  • I guess the consensus is that this is slightly worse than his last few but quality overall? That’s how I feel about it. Plenty moments of obvious greatness but as a whole contributes less to his sound than The Sword & the Soaring did, which was an album I loved very much.

The best moments of Sir Render involve features, which isn’t always the case with his music.

  • In terms of pure skill I feel like he's improved with every album since Ways Of Knowing. But yeah, he's definitely getting repetitive. I personally don't mind (I've been a Curren$y fan for 17 years now and that says it all. Lol)

  • 7.9 on P4K

  • I’m ngl the best thing about this album is the narration, this is quite boring compared to his last one

  • Broscodolo

That Earl verse is very refreshing coming off of Pompeii/utility

  • deadass

Niggas hating and hitting on navy blue at the same time what’s going on

  • Its cool but yea weaker than the last two.

Noname said she had an epiphany when working on Sundial. Looking back on her writing on Room 25, all the flowerly language and abstract poetic verses. She couldn't really understand what she was rapping about. which is why she pushed herself to be more direct on sundial.

I think Navy, earl and Mike need to do the same. While you can be too direct and on the nose, you can also be too poetic to the point your words are lost in translation even to yourself. A lot of rappers struggle to find that sweet spot, but I would be very curious to see how they write on the opposite end of the spectrum

getting to this just now i quite f*** with these new age ahh raps

  • Jun 12

his new age era is solid as hell you can hear a lot of KA in his music, two post rap goats

They made attempts to do that but their writing is still very vague and filled with non sequiturs

    MIKE vague?

and current earl compared to OF earl is very direct this prolly the least spiritual miracle period of Earl we've ever been in.
