Finished Hyrule Warriors, it was prettyy good. I love totk so the story was great to me and mad eme appreciate alot of characters.

I would put Wind Waker, Majora and especially Ocarina over BOTW but im ok with TOTK taking the crown. its incredible.

twilight princess is too complex for the normie gamer to possibly understand, it’s a riveting masterpiece far beyond the comprehension of most. The mature tone and engrossing atmosphere are unmatched in the Zelda franchise. The characters and world building are absolutely peak and don’t even get me started on the dungeons. It doesn’t benefit from trivial things like nostalgia so it’s often underrated.

its epic but had a little too much dip on its chip. everything you said applies way more to Majora.

I dont really play Smash, Kart, Chrono Trigger or Tetris anymore but I dont mind the Mario/Zelda/Metroid placements. Galaxy 2 and Odyssey are neck and neck in my books. Mario Bros 3 and World are neck and neck. Super and Prime are neck and neck. they got all that right except for ranking BOTW about 20 spots too high.

im stuck between feeling the amount of mario and zelda in there is a bit excessive even though i personally would probably put super mario world and or super mario 64 up there. super metroid is also another game id put up there as well no pushback on that really.

ocarina of time / a link to the past seem like reasonable picks just off reputation and im not entirely mad at botw being in there as i feel enough time has past that you could probably argue it. but i feel totk is a little bit of recency bias and a bit of a bold claim to be 1

also tetris is just a lol pick, i get what it did for gameboy but come on

All the older games are placed higher than twilight princess so yeah, most Zelda fans are more nostalgic for ALTTP or OOT or windwaker

Majora was really uneven in tone and atmosphere, one moment it’s goofy aliens abducting cows the next moment it’s the end of the world

youre gonna blame either lack of nostalgia or recency bias for it not being in the top tier but I think its a good placement. game had alot of bloat. was it your first Zelda?

I don’t think botw or totk are rated higher than twilight princess because of recency bias, I think those games are better than twilight princess. My top 3 is totk, botw and tp.

In my opinion twilight princess is just OOT but more fully realized and better, same way that OOT is just link to the past but more fully realized and better

The disconnect between critic and causal's opinion on totk and gaming enthusiasts will always be fascinating to me. For what its worth its also in my top 5 Nintendo games although its hard to pinpoint its exact placement.

My guess is they wanted Zelda to be sporting an adventure-ready outfit as opposed to the usual princess gown and so they directly took inspiration from BOTW Zelda for that.
And since this movie isn’t an adaptation of BOTW, they could go ahead with the traditional green tunic for Link.
