Just found out Switch 2 is gonna use LCD? Gross :ariscared:
Then they'll probably release a Switch 2 OLED but not for another few years
can't go back from my Switch OLED and Steam Deck OLED.... gonna have to wait
new LCDs are pretty good tho, peep the playstation portal
OLED Switch 2 slim def coming in a couple years tho yeah
then again idek the last time i touched my switch
you didnt play Mario Wonder?

I had an iPad mini for a little bit and the LCD panel and the black/gray levels were just so atrocious compared to the OLED iPad Pro. I think everything I own in mini-LED/OLED now..

didnt that drop a year and a half ago or somethin?

feel you I'm oled-pilled as well atp, this would be my first lcd in years. I will say tho lcd tech has gotten better in recent years, it won't be the same lcd screen tech that was in 2017 switch

Don’t worry it’s not gonna be like the switch LCD, it’ll be a much much better display. Screens have come a long way, not just oled tech.

I mean... I feel like this statement gets thrown around but I don't know how true it is. There were LCD screens with excellent color gamut, brightness levels, refresh rate, etc. available seven years ago. LCD today is still one uniform backlight and OLED is lit up on a per-pixel basis for excellent contrast ratio
Today's LCD will not have better contrast ratio than an OLED from three years ago, because that's just fundamentally not how the technologies work, and what I'll be comparing is Switch 1 OLED vs. Switch 2 LCD
Basically what I'm getting at is that brightness, color gamut, refresh rate, resolution etc might all be excellent on the LCD. But it will not have the contrast ratio of an OLED panel
edit: UNLESS it has local dimming, which can help achieve better contrast ratios. An LCD panel with really good local dimming might get me to bite. Otherwise I'm holding out for Switch 2 OLED

I get what you’re saying, I definitely think Nintendo will be cognizant of this in choosing the display. Especially because they’ll be advertising the switch family of products together for years to come likely and they don’t want the switch 1 oled looking better.
They’ll definitely work hard to get a great contrast and design it with that weakness in mind. You also have to consider the fact that it’s a 1080p display so the pixels will add a lot, but also that a big selling point is going to be the docked 4k experience, so as a package I think the oled is just dwarfed and I will sell mine tbh. I’m guessing though, I just think Nintendo isn’t going to risk f***ing it up like that after WIi U fumble.

Do you think they'll continue to sell any of the original Switch line after the Switch 2 unveiling? I'd think that would be super messy if they end up having Switch 2 exclusives. Of course if Switch 1 can run all of the Switch 2 titles just at lower fidelity then I'd expect them to keep a model or two around at lower price points

They really using and abusing me because I will definitely end up owning both just like I did with the switch 😭

I can see the writing on the walls, I’m trying not to let that happen to me but I’m worried it will

Yes they will continue to sell them side by side, probably discontinuing the original switch and the lineup will be oled1 + switch 2 and then a switch 2 lite soon after
MP4, Pokémon legends Z-A, and a few other titles will be cross-gen but I have no idea how long they will do that
I don’t think it’s that messy
Yeah I might wait until the NS 2 OLED is out if it's not coming in 2025 though
ive barely had the switch as is, so im just catching up on heat. Probably won't jump into NS2 for a while
So much good s*** I've missed out on
Switch 2 was legit probably suppose to drop in the fall
Those rumors that it got delayed to 2025 because of softwares were probably true
Why are we all of a sudden seeing accessory leaks? Switch 2 was definitely a fall 2024 thing

Yeah I think you can wait another 1-3 years before getting one. But I am so far considering waiting until the OLED version of the NS 2 is out tbh
