it’s been 8 years since odyssey and all the senior devs were missing from DK Bananza credits, so they were working on something else this whole time (aka new 3d Mario coming imminently). I feel like next year is a lock.

Kind of, WAY more deliberate and intense moment to moment gameplay though. You were way faster than Mario kart, almost F-Zero levels, and had to basically drift around every turn (literally hold the jump button, time the charge, aim yourself, and shoot off in the desired direction)/suck up enemies and use their attacks as power ups/know the maps intimately to succeed. Not a walk in the park AT ALL

Had a lot of content too, so the length of the direct is appropriate and welcomed cuz sometimes recent Nintendo will drop some barebones s*** full price. Not sure if they're keeping all of the complexity of the first installment tho
