it's the same as so many movies lately, as well. trying to get ahead of the PR machine. letting the diehards have it and rave over it, and then it when it gets to the general public it gets real messy.

would love for this to be cool, but I doubt it will. something about every one of these Netflix adaptations feels like some cheap ass cosplay. they gotta leave s*** alone.

Also, a quick Litmus test for me would’ve been if they changed up the strawhat logo for example. Off rip I would’ve been turned off. I’m just praying this will actually be enjoyable, and by all accounts it seems like it will be

I hold the position that I can look at this objectively without trying to compare it to the source material. This will be either good or bad, idc how accurate the costumes and hair is. Quality is quality and that’s what these massive fan bases should be demanding instead of just being happy to be spoon-fed the same meal that they’ve already had, only worse.

To be fair most of the outrage of these live actions shows comes from the fandoms themselves . Fans of the source material are even harder to please with adaptations especially the one piece community. I don’t think there is one adaptation that anime fans are even happy with besides Ruroni kenshin
