devil fruits don't deactivate in water though. remember when luffy was still stretching while under water in arlong park? her being in kid form doesn't have anything to do with the eddy. she was mostly in that form for whatever reason when the eddy happened. i think she's either a clone of ginny or not kuma's biological child. maybe part of the reason ginny was captured was cause she was trying to save or protect a child and that child ends up being bonney, and kuma ends up raising her in memory of ginny

Bonney's df power might not have been activated at the time she got put in that eddy. she's assumed a kid form to do recon/sneak into places before and just mightve gotten caught. also, i dont see why the WG would clone Ginny since she seems to be just a non-powered sniper and tactician. though, Ginny trying to save a kid is plausible too

i'm not huge on the clone theory either but i think there could be something there. i don't think we have a 100% understanding of the relationship between dragon/the revolutionaries and vegapunk, so while the wg might not be concerned with cloning ginny, it's possible that vegapunk could've had reason to clone her and done it without the wg knowing. also it could be possible that this actually isn't where ginny dies. like maybe this is where kuma realizes he loves ginny, saves her, they get married, have bonney and ginny dies at a different point. oda said bonney's age was just an estimation, so that could be why the timelines aren't adding up rn. so instead of being 24 like we believe her to be now, maybe she's actually like 21, 19 or something. i don't think oda would "estimate" her age to 22 just to turn around and be like "actually she's 9" or whatever. that would just seem like a weird gotcha moment that feels kinda pointless and unnecessary, to me at least

if anything, Bonney may just be in Sorbet during all of this and Oda hasn't mentioned her yet. its just that, in the flashback, Ginny didn't seem to be pregnant while in jail 22 years ago and, right after joining the RA, she's running and gunning with everyone else for who knows how long. i dont think her and Kuma decided to spend their first or even second year as revolutionaries dealing with a pregnancy either. plus the mention of the "8 years going by like normal" makes it seem like no notable events happened in Kuma's or Ginny's lives during that span. i also think the estimated age is based solely on appearances. Bonney presents herself as a young adult with an age-altering DF so thats all the WG has to go on

i agree, it wouldn't make sense for her to be on sorbet without any mention. that's why i'm leaning towards bonney being a orphan that kuma raises as his own after ginny dies and bonney loving to eat is what reminds him of ginny and that inspires him to keep fighting. the estimated age comes from oda in a sbs, not the wg. so it's was either oda just being cheeky or an actual hint towards her being younger than we think. if it was a hint, i think she's probably closer to what we assume (24) than being an actual child. her being a child just seems like the kind of poor writing/cliche that oda tends to avoid, but maybe he has something planned for it. otherwise it would just seem like a "i told you x but it's actually y!" situation. that's why i'm assuming that it was just oda being cheeky and making a joke based on her fruit
