    Sir Real

it’s extremely overrated at the very least

First three albums clear by a wide margin

  • Tomata Du Plenty

Might be a hot take or whatever, but I think Stankonia is all time peak Hip-Hop production. It still sounds ahead of its time.

    Factoid

It was legit too forward thinking for its time.

NO RAPPERS was doing B.O.B, ?, Slum
Beautiful, humble mumble type of tracks during that time.

    Some funny ass skits.

    Also gave us ”BREAK”

I got memories with this album. My dad got the cover with the painted lady in front and somehow little me conceptualized that as a fire demon, had VIVID nightmares for a minute because of it.

It was the reason I became a Killer Mike fan (b4 he became capitalist-woke)

I remember going to Tower Records in Buckhead/Atlanta (RIP) when it dropped and having my mind blown listening to it on the ride back home. It genuinely was unlike anything that came before it.

Were you alive when both came out? Enough to know what a hipster is?
Also I didn’t think the album was that great when it first came out. Every other one of their albums is way better

I was already seasoned and had it when it came out it was widely critically acclaimed for its experimentation and had insane crossover appeal

some rap purists were too set in their ways to appreciate the scope and breadth of it. I do think Aquemini is equally good in different ways but Stank has a level of craft the absolutely smokes their first two.
