Damn did 250k with streaming and sold 350k+ bundles with merch and or signed cd’s/vinyl bundles as well. People always forget that. Its still impressive fans bought the bundles but 35$ for a shirt and a vinyl is a no brainer lol. Thats why the rules changed bc it was unfair. No one was buying the music they were buying shirts/hoodies. Back then no one understood bundles like we do now so it tricked a lot of people into believing it was a natural 600k like a 600k today would be

no rapper even thought was possible, maybe 2pac??? but damn he didn't even get one...lol

Lot of MJ parallels too. It’s such beautiful symbolism

The audacity to do it and actually deliver is unreal.

so, he did in fact play the game for years lol which is the point im making

We're talking about the game of promoting your album heavily. Drake and Kendrick haven't done that for years (before Iceman)

  • Infinito

I might get smacked but only ones close to that are Drake and Bad Bunny

i feel that, kanye was on that level and closer than drake is now but unfortunately the guy fell off the wagon years ago

y'all still talking about kendrick in here cause deep down y'all know he will always be more respected

by who...? real artists respect both drake and kendrick cause it would be stupid not to. im sure kendrick respects drake on some level too

  • I know Drake would be down but imagine a Drake x Bad Bunny collab album

Attributing all of that to shirts is extremely disingenuous though, Kendrick is arguably the most successful 2010s rapper when it comes to physical albums, his fans love buying physicals

I understand that but bro none of his other albums did that lmao. You have to look at it with a clear head no bias. It makes no sense. He used the tactics and it worked. But its tainted if you know what the play was

I think something that's special about this record is that the production feels modern and new-age but not in a try-hard way where Drake doesn't fit it, like he's trying to keep up with Yeat and Carti production-wise. It works, it feels classic, but it feels new, and it's fitting.

I get that. Album was 100% successful and i’m not taking that away from him. But selling 350k physicals when you packaged cds/vinyls/digital albums with shirts/hoodies and stuff when no one else was selling physicals like that without bundles is very obvious what the majority of that 350 was.
