Start with Money Changes Everything or Purple Summer 3 that’s his peak

i've been a big greedo fan for a long time but i get what you mean he bullshits his vocals and mix from time to time especially post-jail

probably heard this song already but in my opinion it's his best and has been a top 10 song for me of all time for a while

Im not big on those Griselda guys because imo they're doing a worse version of FBZ/The Underachievers. But it was a losing battle because I have friends irl who swear by WSG and Conway.

They were a breath of fresh air at the time and did a ton for hip hop but they’ve all been stale since like 2018/19 besides Benny who’s been mid for the past couple years. Project gets a lot of hate for no reason but Plugs I Met 2 is the best album to come from Griselda, no skips, amazing beats, bars straight through and it’s just tough

I used to think J Cole was a midwit. I hated lines like some people make millions other makes memes but one morning after using psychedelics I woke up and realized Cole was smart and all the lines that I had hated grew on me.

That said I like some parts of his discogs better than others. Not too big of 4YEO.

As for the beef, I hated what he did at the time, but on some level I can relate to saying angry things to someone and wanting to take it back after I'd calmed down. And sometimes you have to let it out before you can understand it isn't how you feel.

That said it's absolutely wild how much he instigated on FPS lol.

Yeah some things from Cole is just straight eye rolling with some lines, or some line like the autistic and f**got lines are just so unnecessary and head scratching that also throws me - but overall I don't have an issue and some things I do love - he's just a little too straightforward for me and a little non aggressive for me

But yeah I could write a paper on how I believe the beef would have never happened, or at least escalated without Cole

    • I guarantee Drake wouldn't have dropped Push Ups if he thought Cole wasn't gonna Rap, but Cole dropping 7min drill gave Drake the greenlight to go, but then Cole taking it back leaves Drake stranded and if he also pulls back he will now look p**** and give to the image thay kendrick is this lowkey bully monster - he was fully f***ed and I bet he knew bout 7min sijce they were altogether and he took it back on their last concert day, Drake was more than likelt thinkijg they were gonna two piece kendrixk as the lightskin duo but cole dropping out makes them both look bad and if drake is also p****, and cole dropping it in the first place makes people look at and put pressure on Drake to also drop sumn, he got hoed imo

    • yeah fps Cole had many lines both positive and negative towards Kendrick, but the big stepper one being the loudest as direct and then Cole later positions it's just him and Drake at the top as indirect after giving praise/hate to Kendrick, Drake doesn't even really touch on Kendrick at all. Which the Kendrick n future song is literally a response to FPS and Kendrick half of the song even flips specific lines and directly references, their song doesn't happen without FPS and especially Coles side of FPS. Like That at least in its released form has no Kendrick verse how it is without FPS existing first. Plus all the info of the background of FPS makes Cole seem messy with how Kendrick turned it down because him and Drake still haven't directly addressed any of their issues. Cole knows exactly why (and as an actual homie, should understand) why he declined, and Kendrick still remained cordial originally till it's release and his lines.

    • then the last thing, Cole made his diss with 7min way personal then it had be (which he tried to retcon later as him just "sparring"). Him especially going after his discog when Kendrick is suppose to be an actual close homie is foul, and even more so cuz he s***s on TPAB especially, which he praised TF out of TPAB in the past, remixes alright and called it a spot of inspiration. So either he was lying back then to his friend and media and always thought it was weak, or he's lying now just for a stab back line to his so called actual friend when imo Kendrick and futures song did not warrant it. Then the retconning makes it worst, and then in retrospect him s***ting on MMBS calling it "tragic" but then his highly anticipated album doesn't even outsell nevermind GNX is funny and kinda like karma.

N if I'm Kendrick, I'm thinking my homie might have been colluding with my enemy this whole time that led to FPS and 7min to hit me while they been kicking it together for nearly a year on tour potentially talking bout me, especially in retrospect.

Anyways, that yap session and those 3 major point summaries would be the focus on a full breakdown if I ever did one. I think he was 100% in the wrong and not only to Kendrick, but also Drake. And it comes off worst to me too because what was said wasn't even that crazy yet while Like That being a response to what he started on FPS, and he's suppose to be an "actual friend" that haven't had issues so (while Drake is not regarding to Kendrick). And it also comes off like he totally used the feud of Drake and Kendrick to his own advantage and played them both when he is and tries to come off as the neutral party that is true long time friends to them both. N ended up forcing both his "friends" into this cascading beef 🧐🤷

You can def respect him for withdrawing from the beef but he can never be in a goat conversation because of it.

He’s like a Pusha T level now. Really respected in rap but no one would ever say he’s top 10 to ever do it

There was that On the Radar cypher. Someone posted tracks from the rappers. And it was absolutely terrible. They were all rapping over mid-tier Saba/Smino type beats and had no charisma.

Talib Kweli once said that in order to rap you have to be an a******. I don't think so. I don't think you have to come from a particular background either.

But you have to be kind of f***ed up in the head. You have to have experienced a struggle in some capacity. A lot of hip hop is about, underneath it all, trying to hold in your tears. And staying strong through adversity and overcoming.

Edit: there are still plenty of great street rappers tho. Star Bandz is cool too

There are no rules to life or hip hop. You can do what you want and rate J Cole as highly as you want.

Yeah i think this is it
Like i can tell when u not rapping about whats real to your life
i think thats why i fw the keem album he's one of the few lately that i actually feel like every bar i can hang on and reveals more about himself
I think i have to buy into the rapper themselves before i enjoy the music, which is weird . might be a hiphop only thing

I've checked that stuff out a lot and respect it but it never sticks. I really liked IDLSIDGO/Solace era Earl. Now I like the songs he's on that don't sound like MIKE.
