so I can't stand still, Arthur just always starts walking left, the horse starts turning left, I cant use the map cuz the cursor keeps drifting to the left..even though the actual joystick looks fine.

that sounds like a joystick issue, try opening the gamepad and clean the joystick, I had that issue and after cleaning it worked a bit but my issue happened because I smacked the gamepad one day and it screwed the sensor

just finished the main story. Sad ending
The end of Dutch felt a little rushed but otherwise the story was cool. No big money heists or anything. You're just trying to find your family.
Also grown up Jack

Sad ending is a bit of an understatement. Reality is a hellhole, pigs are f***ing demons, the universe is a cold, dark, brutal place. S*** was an epic tragedy like Julius Caesar. And then that prologue hits 10x harder and after the duel it immediately cuts to the title and credits
10/10 they really don’t make ‘em like this anymore except maybe death stranding

oh boy Nah. I was looking for it since I figured there would be. Didn't see one. Didn't see a mission marker. Needed to take a break anyways so I saved and stopped. I'll hop back in though. Still need to try Undead Nightmare for the first time too.

Yeah go to Blackwater. Damn it’s the final mission of the game, and the series, enjoy… wish I could experience that moment for the first time again

seeing his momma only died like 4 years after John is what really stuck out to me. Wonder what happened. I will though.

RDR2 is a prequel so story wise you could jump in no problem. I played RDR2 first before the first game.
Red Dead 2 is one of the most beautiful games of all time and it's worth it just for that. Although I have a lot of qualms with the gameplay handling in Red Dead 2. Thing just become very cumbersome and it makes the game a frustrating experience sometimes. But when you're just taking it slow and enjoying the world it's really a beautiful experience and Arthur is a great character. You have to take the game slow because there is just so many interactions you can have with NPCs. It is one of the most lively games you'll play.
The first game feels more "gamey" which I personally appreciate more and the story is alright as well but it does show it's age. I've never had a problem with older games. But even in the first game there is some interesting interactions.
They're very similar in terms of game structure so I'd just say play the second game since you already have it unless you like to play things in chronological order. Plus they're pretty long games so regardless you'll be investing time into one.
The one thing missing in RDR2 is the zombie mode "Undead Nightmare". I have yet to start it since I just finished the main game but it seems like a fun side game.

thats exactly what I did,
I just finished RDR2 main story
making my way through RDR1.5 (John's epilogue)
then buying the remaster to head straight into RDR1wish Undead Nightmare was contextualized within the world instead of it being just a random, non-cannon, elseworld story
like make it take place in John's head/nightmare or something lmao
