RIP to the Queen of Memphis. She definitely paved the way and built the platform for majority of women today mainly from the south. I would say people like Meg and Glorilla get a lot of their style from her. For anyone that hasn't yet definitely bump Boo's solo albums. They're really underrated imo and don't get checked as much as they should. She had so much more than Where Dem Dollas At.
It's sad too because she was just getting her second wind building up with features on the way she recently did an interview with Drink Champs and Rolling Stone. Felt like 2023 would definitely have been her year. It's so f***ed.
In a general note, pretty much all the prominent members of Three 6 are gone. The only members left from the original group are Crunchy, Paul, and Juicy. (You can kind of count Project Pat and La Chat but they were more Hypnotized Minds affiliated rather than actual members of Three 6).
I wish Paul and Juicy didn't go through what they went through in the late 2000's/early 2010's and we got one more Three 6 album with everyone alive. Would of been amazing.
Always sad to see what could of been.
Fuuuuck
RIP. 2023 already on some bs
Like I don't know if Glorilla would say she was influenced by Gangsta Boo, but I think it's safe to say that Gangsta Boo helped lay the groundwork for a sound and scene that Glorilla is part of
And also not just an important artist but a legitimately great one who was super f***ing clever, a great writer, classic flows, this is awful
absolutely
Something I haven't seen mentioned itt
She has the hardest female rap moniker EVER.
RIP Gangsta Boo
