was not expecting to feel bad for hoffa. i gotta let that sink in and rewatch in a couple months but this might end up top 5 scorsese. some of the cinematography and shots that one shot outside of the car window

2-3 hours in youre sitting there saying that it's fun and a nice story, but it all feels like its meaningless and just a shaggy dog story plot like forrest gump. Then Scorsese flicks on the afterburners and you are hit with 30 incredible minutes that say so much with so little and everything just comes together. There's both that tragic sadness that everything is lost to time, as well as that sad sinking in your stomach when the movie hears its end and you realize that all these titans like Pacino, DeNiro, Pesci, and Scorsese are on their way out and we will likely never see anything like them again. In that final shot the world and our struggles feel meaningless and yet so meaningful.

It's like Henry: Portait of a Serial Killer but 4 hours long. Payoff is not worth the runtime.

deadass. i wasnt paying attention to the time but it was like a black comedy for atleast half of the movie. its obvious to see what scorsese was doing with it. but i didnt know the payoff was gonna hit like that.

it wouldnt have hit as hard if the movie was 1 hr 30 mins. last act absolutely tragic.

also love how u can tell that the scenes went on waaaaayyy longer than they were supposed to but scorsese and the editor wittled it down to the most potent/funny moments. some s*** looked improvised af but it made it f***in hilarious

since this is on Netflix there's really no reason to spoiler tag. no one should click this thread and expect no spoilers when it's accessible to everybody

    well then im finna spazz

man F*** both frank and russell i thought they was cool for the first half of the movie but when frank snuffed hoffa with no hesitation after like decades of friendship my jaw dropped.

selfish ass prick nigga lost everything yet still clinged onto that life until the end without ever admitting it. losing his family smmhhhh nigga felt no remorse either. pacino didnt deserve none of that. also love how the only question peggy asked in the whole movie is "why?"

him telling the priest to keep the door crack was such an ambiguous ending. effective as hell. s*** works like a rorsach test or whatever they called

  • Nov 28, 2019

    it’s what it is

  • Nov 28, 2019

yea he was a real one till the end but he didnt get the big picture. bro was alone and miserable by the end all for that mob s*** smh.

that last elongated hug between frank and hoffa had me in shambles. he felt a type of way about it for sure. he knew he f***ed up.
