Wonder why Hoffa didn’t drop all the info on their asses and get everyone locked up, that felt like his only option
Hoffa thought he was untouchable and they wouldn’t dare kill him. What he didn’t understand and what they even say in the movie is if they can kill the president, they can kill the president of a union.
He was too stubborn for his own good.
The last hour or so of the film is so amazing and so sad. A lot of interesting stuff about inevitability/free will and finality in this movie that I keep thinking about.
The part where Frank is picking out how he wants to be buried mirrors the door being left open. He's afraid of finality because he knows what he's done is wrong, but I also think that he believes a lot of what happened was inevitable and ultimately out of his control.
Also read the door being left half open may be Scorsese reminding us to reflect on our choices because our future have yet to be written. It’s a glimmer of hope for us to know that and for frank, the door being open gives him some hope that his family might one day come through.
Love how simple yet ambiguous the ending is. Truly a masterpiece!
frfr scorsese knows wtf hes doing. if he wants to make a long ass movie he got a reason to do so. hes a master
Marty and QT are masters at making long ass movies
need to rewatch cause there was at least a good ten minutes i was basically passed out from exhaustion but man this might beat Silence for my personal favorite Scorsese film
What would you have cut out
i havent started yet. i just saw its runtime on netflix
"Frank is unusual in that no one comes to murder him, but in its own way, that speaks not to him being well-liked or a good guy, but rather that he’s largely unimportant. He is forgotten."
Loved how the first time Frank and Russell eat, they're having fresh bread and classic wine and the last time, it's grape juice and old prison bread.

Holy fuuck. The scene where Russell is officially telling Frank that he's gonna have to murder Jimmy, you see De Niro look into the camera several times.
The number one rule in acting is to never look into the camera so this was definitely intentional and it almost seems like is Frank is crying inside pleading to get out. Damn.

didnt catch that damn
They tried to tell Hoffa and dude really wouldn’t listen lmao over a union gig. White people something else
Bro wanted every f***ing ounce of smoke. F***in astounding. He really didnt think he was one of them.
the scene with pesci giving deniro the ring..
On god that was the moment when he started really riding for russell. You can see frank tearing up too.
russell has bro in the palm of his hands at that point. Then he didnt even hesitate to reveal the motive of it all. They made up their mind watching hoffa dance with peggy. And frank knew it. Thats f***ed up
