he probably one of the most genuine movie critics out there. smh.
What was your favourite episode/section of the film bro?
I almost cried when Frank hopped on that plane to Detroit there was so much tension up until he painted that house. He was so hurt, that s*** was gettin to me
The murders were so savage in this s*** bruh, how he did homeboy on his birthday and Joe after he snitched was some GTA s***
Final shot paralleling him being in Jimmy hotel room and he left the door open was powerful, almost make me wanted another 30 mins of content
that entire detroit sequence was insane considering how all this slow build up is juxtaposed to such a quick and cold murder. S*** is actually haunting on rewatch to see.
jesus christs who's trash ass lb is this
Bane. Aka a guy who thinks this movie is boring and thinks he has deep knowledge of cinema cuz he saw Mandy.
lol every gangster movie based on real events is predictable. This movie literally tells you that Hoffa gets killed by Sheeran in the first 2 minutes of the movie.
Scorsese's gangster movies have never been about trying to figure out the ending. They are about the journey and the characters and this is top-notch in both areas, especially in how it is edited and structured, which is just levels beyond most American films.
And also it has nothing to do with nostalgia or emotion. Irishman is a perfectly told story for what it is trying to be. It is a one of a kind gangster movie and Scorsese has never done anything like this before. The closest we have really seen to this is what Coppola tried to do with his Godfather trilogy, and even then that doesn't go as far as Scorsese does with the idea of criminals living a life where their actions gradually start to haunt them more and more. The whole point is that these men never truly get caught and they have to live with the horrible things they have done in isolation and it is presented in a way I haven't seen in any American gangster movie.
I’d argue this is on par with The Godfather Saga

Yeah, never a pretentious prick neither. I respect that, some of these guys do to much to appeal to a certain crowd
I’d argue this is on par with The Godfather Saga
yeah I mean, I think this is Goodfellas tier, so its certainly on the level of the Godfather 1/2
What was your favourite episode/section of the film bro?
action bronson of course

was good to see them deal with that so quickly. The Hoffa hit/"mystery" hung over this movie as a sort 'is this gonna be the central part' the whole time. Glad they got on with it (comparatively) quick tbh. even though I still think the rest was quite unfocused.
Had Frank drop Hoffa and head on with the quickness
action bronson of course
Don’t think I’ve got to that episode yet but can’t wait, heard the ending fire!
Bane. Aka a guy who thinks this movie is boring and thinks he has deep knowledge of cinema cuz he saw Mandy.

The symbolism actually run deep af this s*** transcends just being a "mafia" movie, also Pesci needs an Oscar because he was like a mediator holding every plot point together and slowly stitching the story with complete bipartisan activity. Showed Frank's loyalty in the end was fickle because he committed that murder and even though it weighed on him deeply it eventually was just business as usual and the biggest regret he had was getting locked up for that car and not being able to bond with his family.
S*** ton of talking points, too many places to start, the build up in this, the pacing and storytelling is some of the best i've ever seen in cinema period
