Nah, that's what I'm saying lol people here are really fond of that movie I've peeped
Haven't watched it in a minute but as far as being a fleshed out period piece with religious overtones, it's basically Dreyer Joan of Arc tier
Coming from Scorsese that is a powerful achievement
Nah, that's what I'm saying lol people here are really fond of that movie I've peeped
its his most complex film I would say
I feel like Scorsese has like 10-12 films which are just flawless masterworks and you gotta jus kinda pick and choose what elements you like the most to determine your favs from his filmog at that point
Aviator ain't it my guy
Di Caprio Scorsese just does not compare to De Niro Scorsese.
I wish he collabed with more other actors in the 21st century..
Aviator ain't it my guy
amazing film. Has Leo's career-best performance and I would say is a progression of Raging Bull's themes put into the world of a man who has all the success he ever dreamed of and how that sense of genius and obsession seeps into his everyday life.
The casting and the editing is brilliant as well because it literally captures Hughe's lifestyle and how everything just starts to seep together leading to his downfall.
The symbolism actually run deep af this s*** transcends just being a "mafia" movie, also Pesci needs an Oscar because he was like a mediator holding every plot point together and slowly stitching the story with complete bipartisan activity. Showed Frank's loyalty in the end was fickle because he committed that murder and even though it weighed on him deeply it eventually was just business as usual and the biggest regret he had was getting locked up for that car and not being able to bond with his family.
S*** ton of talking points, too many places to start, the build up in this, the pacing and storytelling is some of the best i've ever seen in cinema period
Imma need you to expand on the symbolism in this movie my g
also I think Leo is an exceptional actor when it comes to working with Scorsese. He doesn't have the range De Niro did sure, but Scorsese has crafted 3 masterpieces with him I would say.
The ending where he goes to the bank to talk to his daughter and she shuns him ๐ข๐ข๐๐๐. S*** was so sad fam.
Imma need you to expand on the symbolism in this movie my g
Plenty of Catholic symbolism and religious undertones for starter, at least 3 times Frank mentioned how characters including himself in the story vowed to never do something again if they made it out of a life threatening situation
Interpersonal symbolism in how power, loyalty and hierarchy plays in who we align with and what's seen as wrong in the process (like an italian guy hiring black guys to his mob)
Allegories that play a part in modern society as well in how we cope with regret and often refuse to accept it, ultimately taking our old bad habits to the grave with us
Plenty.
