Stephen Graham bringing his Capone A-game here, great to see him going toe-to-toe with Pacino.

Got me planning a Boardwalk rewatch out here, and let's not forget the boy CANNAVALE, and of course Dom Lombardozzi and the absolute goat Jack Huston.

Marty really brought the whole gang

I wasn’t sure it was Dom at first. I recognized his voice but I was thinking: no way they did so many changes to his body for a minor role

Clown literally has the most casual taste I have ever seen and has the audacity to call me out on anything 😂😂🤡

says the guy who named the most entry-level foreign filmmakers that he likes. You literally have Jeremy Jahns tier taste and the fact everyone in this chat thinks you're a clown with pleb taste is saying something.

I gave him 3 safe bets to see where he was going, and he’s just another clown like yourself.

But you haven’t even watched the entry-level s***, so what exactly is your point?

    Don’t remember what that means

Big Ears was the guy he brought weapons to Florida during Kennedy's Presidency to help with the Bay of Pigs invasion.

Later on during Nixons Presidency he sees Big Ears was a CIA Agent and he's on trial for involvement with Watergate.

Little connections like that showing how connected EVERYONE was.

Jimmy Hoffa backed Nixon and got pardoned by him meanwhile the Mob helped JFK win.

    No one was clean

This was f***ing fantastic. It really shows you when you choose that life you get nothing in return at the end of the day. If you don't get murdered you die a lonely old man that did nothing of actual value with your life. S*** is dark

    godfather trilogy did it better!

can't believe how people are overstating Peggy.

Claiming she's the heartbeat etc. when they really didn't flesh Franks family life at all. It was basically every half an hour you'd get a minute long scene where she's either brooding at Russ or happy with Jimmy. great…

Felt hamfisted and I wish they'd done more with Frank's family cause then the last part would've hit way more. And it wouldn't feel a bit cheap

agree with you 100% about his family life not being fleshed out. there's a similar quandary in Road to Perdition and that's fleshed out pretty well. his fixation with catholic guilt in the final hour meant that he had to make up for Frank's lack of family time in other parts and it was especially noticeable during Frank's testimonial dinner with several shots of Peggy and Hoffa.

Scorsese was lacking in that regard and it definitely affected how I viewed his attempted Godfather parallel between Frank and Michael, being completely isolated from their family at the end. The only difference is in the Godfather it felt earned, Michael did some heinous things that irrevocably damaged his familial relationships. I guess Scorsese was trying to frame Hoffa's murder as that point for Frank?

I get Hoffa/Russ dynamic with his family and Hoffa was warm/genuine in contrast to Russ who was not liked by Peggy but for once I do agree with these mob guys that they did all they could. Hoffa knew he was putting Frank in a tough situation. Peggy seems smart enough to put two and two together about her old man, is she naive about who Hoffa really was and who he was associating with>?

I also think in general, it is really pleb-tier logic to think more screen time/dialogue = better characterization.

Both Tarantino and Scorsese proved that clearly wrong this year

Tarantino's portrayal of Tate was confusing, to say the least.
