i feel like no one should even make mafia epics anymore after this. This was the perfect end to the genre.
Without spoiling specifics its clear that moreso than any other mob movie ever released Scorsese wanted to make it clear as possible to the audience knows that he is not glorifying the mob lifestyle which I'm sure has been an annoying criticism he's constantly heard.
rewatch hit too hard
only watched it once so far, im finna be watching this all month fam

fr so much replay value for such a long movie it's crazy
This f***ing grocery store scene
his best film by a wide margin, last act some of the most cathartic s*** i seen
cannot BELIEVE that b****es calling it unoriginal as if scorsese has tackled these themes before
This f***ing grocery store scene
Funny thing is that altho the the fight came off odd it didn’t cross my mind like oh it’s old DeNiro acting so he’s slow and sloppy I thought it was more because maybe Frank wasn’t sure what to do to truly injure him until he decides to f*** his hand up real bad
What surprised me more is how easy the windows blew because i didn’t notice anything really impacting it but yeah haha
Hoffa murder was so cold damn, it gave me the chills
You just knew that s*** was gonna happen from the minute he got his first scene and it still hits hard
Watching him just dig himself into the grave hurt smh

The way he’s so wholesome and trusty during the whole sequence right there killed me
Bro didn’t even LOOK at Franks face when they got in the house and he says let’s get outta here it didn’t even crossed his mind
moreover, i f***ing LOVE how the film tells the story of the Kennedy presidency from something of an "outside view" (ergo the perspective of Sheeran et al.)
genius s*** fr fr

thats called trust
and betrayal
goodfellas is my favorite movie of all time and I am so glad Scorsese addressed what's probably my biggest gripe with it on The Irishman: actually gave us more from the point of view of mob's children
to clarify: I get how you can argue that in Goodfellas it was done on purpose, as in this is how much time Henry dedicated to his children in his life, but only with The Irishman it feels like he purposefully shows just a tiny piece of that child's perspective and actually shows the aftermath of it rather than clearly not developing this theme during Goodfellas runtime

I dunno, he just looked old as f*** in every scene to me. No amount of reverse-aging wizardry can make him not move and stand like he’s pushing 80. His, Pesci, Pacino and Keitel’s ages all kind of constantly took me out of this movie. I didn’t even feel like they were acting as well as they all used to.
