I feel like we need answers to the basic questions though, like how Gemma even ended up there in the first place

    I love mystery

Two: We just finished Season 2, and I still don’t think I have a clear answer on what Cold Harbor even is. Why aren’t innie or outie Mark, or even Devon, asking Cobel what it is exactly? I kept thinking, okay, maybe we’ll get an answer once it’s at 100%, but nope—they just watch her disassemble some furniture.

This was my biggest issue with the finale. Spent the entire season building towards this grand mystery of the important behind Cold Harbor, and we end the season still not definitively knowing what it even is.

I see people saying “oh it’s when they ensure that someone is completely severed to the point where they don’t remember even their most traumatizing experiences”… the entire show has operated around the basic premise that the severed individuals have no knowledge or inclination of any aspect of their Outies’ lives… how is that any sort of reveal?

I’d be willing to bet they needed more story for Season 2 so they retroactively made that connection.

We didn’t really need to know what they were doing. Their work was meant to convey the torture of the ordinary at Lumon. It also served as a satire of how corporate work can feel pointless. Season 2 comes along and now it’s this big thing that doesn’t really make sense.

I genuinely think they writing as they go, meaning the creator/writer did not have the full scope by the time it was picked up

Season 1 seemed “tighter” and more organized

Season 2 feels like they had 10 writers, all with different ideas, and they tried to put em all in the show but make it somehow connect

Man I never thought I’d watch an episode of television that was more heartbreaking than The Constant, but this s*** comes close fuuuuuuck

It’s interesting— I’ve noticed a lot of discourse itt about the topic of binge watching shows, and in general I am extremely anti binge watching and I hate vast majority of Netflix

That being said, I think this show may be one of the rare exceptions. There are so many intricate details in it that I think sometimes people miss the forest for the trees. I haven’t tested it out, but I feel like being able to watch it in a more continuous run (obviously not f***ing around on your phone though and actually paying attention still) would make it a more enjoyable experience for some people that haven’t liked this season as much.

Personally I loved a lot about the season, but there were also times I had trouble connecting with it and I think that I would’ve benefited from watching all at once.

Regardless, that finale was absolutely GOAT and perfection in directing/cinematography/acting/storytelling.

Posting a literal severance fan as proof of "changing sides" but I forget you treat anyone with any criticism of the weaker episodes as "HATERS!"

    Couldn't possibly disagree more

You don't get week long discussion and dissection of each episode with the binge model. It totally kills the staying power of the show as well

I think the average viewer is also a lot less likely to go back and look for things they missed or really think about and a***yze each individual episode when they're all available at once

Little extreme but he's right tbh

Breaking Bad is a great show but it's talked about like it's on the same level as The Sopranos far too often

Mystery is cool but I feel like this show is gonna end up like Lost where they don't end up answering a lot of the mysteries or edge us for a lackluster reveal

Season 3 could be good with creative outside the box writing but now that the "strange job with a creepy boss that gives you balloons and dance parties for achievements thst you don't remember when you get home" portion of the show seems to be done for, things could get shaky depending on the angle they take

They should've held off the rescue of Gemma and made it more clever when it's finally done. This just made Lumon look really incompetent and I don't take them seriously anymore. Wouldn't even be surprised if whoever Reghabi works for ends up being the final villain at this rate
