What 9 and 11 year old even understand the concept of emasculating LMAO

It’s like one of those “I offered my 4 year old juice but he said ‘it’s okay mommy I know the problems of being a single mother in this patriarchal world I’ll pour it myself for you’” facebook posts

Shakira got out of an 8-year prison sentence for fraud because she’s rich so she’s the typical completely out of touch with reality celeb

Just proves that the movie is all about the perspective you're looking it at. I thought it was a great way to explain how to the two extreme ends perceive the world around them.

Seeing it as somehow emasculating is just insecure to me tbh.

and those two extreme ends are just representing what men & women in the west are told to chase since we are kids, and how it’s just making men lonely/confused and women unsatisfied with their boundaries today

all people gotta take from it is we gotta move on and let go

Honestly as an open minded reasonable loser I might give this movie a chance one day. Idk where it’s streaming tho

I don’t understand exactly what she’s saying with her statement. She just seems like she’s a big fan of traditional gender roles.

Traditional gender roles are essentially “the patriarchy” but I think the patriarchy is a busted concept. The patriarchy is sort of talked about like this cloud over all of us that’s the root of all evil. People use it whenever they wanna talk about gender roles. Talking about gender roles is good but I don’t think people should use a gendered term to do it. I think whether men have more power or women have more power depends on how you wanna look at it. I think both genders create the gender roles that we exist within, and they hurt both, and they benefit both. In different ways.

The Barbie movie does sort of encourage women to fall into the victim narrative that’s popular today. It could have been worse, but there’s no avoiding it. It’s good fun, and my problems with the messaging are mostly problems with feminism as a whole.

I feel like both the Barbie movie and Shakira are two sides of a coin obsessed with gender, but in different ways. I just think gender roles are dumb.

What did you expect from a film called Barbie.

Its not "for men" - its fun "for the girls" overall.

And if you want to go so hard on a masculine angle, why are your sons watching or interested in Barbie in the first place.

The film is harmless - your sons feeling "emasculated" from a simple film that is marketed towards mostly women signals to me they didnt have a "tough spine" to begin with nor are they as masculine as they try to portray.

Her comment isnt offensive imo, its mostly neutral, but her and her sons are just dumb & went out there way to a movie with a specific demo in mind that is obviously advertised as one thing.

Watch something else. And stop being so fragile & sensitive that a single movie can ruin your "manhood".

If its that easily "broken" then, personally, seems to me that it was mostly a facade in the first place.
