The issues with Barbie in regards to how it treats the Kens is one of the more glaring issues with the film even though I don’t all the way agree with Shakira’s statement.

Not surprised to hear a Colombian say this, I’ve lived in America for a while now and always find it interesting how Americans forget they’re usually a bit ahead of the curve on progressive values/gender roles. What I find kinda weird is she’s presumably always been in the provider role in her relationships, so aside from the aesthetic aspects of masculinity, what does she expect a guy to do for her ?
