Whenever a Marxist says "hey read this it's pretty interesting" do not do it if you're in an emotionally vulnerable state

Happy 44th to my comrades of the past bringing my country a step towards the future

God bless the trash can man but read these two articles and how different he looks at Ukraine and Cuba fighting a greater power, prolly the biggest example of Zizek's shortcomings in his politics.
On one hand, he dismisses great power politics and the idea that Ukraine should make any concessions to Russia in order to stop Russian aggression, and thus should keep fighting for... NATO and EU membership lol?
But Cuba on the other hand should admit defeat and accept great power politics as not just a descriptive, but a prescriptive idea and "negotiate the best deal possible" in order to end the embargo and give up all the gains of the revolution lol.
Somehow NATO and EU membership is a greater and more valuable cause to fight for than socialism according to him. I guess that's what you're bound to get with his lil enlightened Eurocentrism gimmick
Also when I read this part all I could think about is you
@krishna_bound
I visited Cuba a decade ago, and on that visit I found people who proudly showed me houses in decay as a proof of their fidelity to the revolutionary “Event”: “Look, everything is falling apart, we live in poverty, but we are ready to endure it rather than to betray the Revolution!” When renunciations themselves are experienced as proof of authenticity, we get what in psychoanalysis is called the logic of castration. The whole Cuban politico-ideological identity rests on the fidelity to castration — no wonder that the Leader is called Fidel Castro!
Living in poverty to own the capitalists

Yuzzy once again coming through with sheer ideological incoherency
How can one consider themselves socialist while saying that submitting to imperialist structures of exploitation is something practical?
The Segregation By Design twitter account is worth checking out. Shows how black urban neighborhoods were flattened to make way for highways and parking lots and malls.
That along with "Tough on Crime" bullshit was one of the tools used to powderize the black working class in service of Reaganite Consumerism and white suburbia. It reminds me of Manifest Destiny in some ways.

I think the legacy and conditions of urban design, real estate, and infrastructure is the most clear cut way we can point people towards in regards to showing them the sheer inefficiency, exploitation, and oppression that occurs under capitalism
We live in it every day, we can very clearly see the geography of it, the legacy of its creation, and we know solutions
Fam you think a country is imperialist because they have a foreign policy
Alhamdulillah I hope you don’t think Chinas imperialist
Living in poverty to own the capitalists
Cuba has better life standard metrics than other countries in its GDP per capita category

Actually no internet and no massive auto-based infrastructure so poor
Yeah fam I’m not the socialist itt who’s arguing that countries all suffer under socialism and need to be coupled with the western capitalist system to thrive
take it elsewhere

to be fair, in the case of his post he's basically just agreeing with zizek, that's literally what zizek himself is saying albeit less snarky. zizek's whole shtick is that actually existing socialism doesn't matter in a bubble since it does nothing to actually stop imperialism/globalism elsewhere, so every attempt at socialism is futile and stupid unless it's a global revolution (but according to zizek even a global revolution would be a failure because no one would know what to do after lol) since all it does is lower quality of life (according to him, because media = quality of life or something? idk ive never followed him on that). for reference not defending it but just saying even people as "famed" as zizek in these spaces hold those types of views.
