    Bottom line

If some artist, Big or small makes a hit by sampling one of my songs then yes give me compensation

Other than that scenario who cares. Let people be creative, Even if it doesn’t live up to your personal standard for creativity

You’re proposing the idea that art has no value if that value is small

It’s like your boss asking you at work if you wanna come in for an hour of unpaid time because it’s a small amount so who cares?

Does it matter? You just agreed with me lol

Because I agree if the song is a hit and you have funds to pay for it

But if a small poor artist makes a stack I’m not taking that from them

I never paid the guy who made the Rayman soundtrack for sampling the Blue Mountain ambient sounds on an album that made me like ÂŁ150

    Guess it's over for me

No I'm not, That comparison doesn’t even make any sense

You’re saying you don’t want anyone to sample unless you’re already rich and backed by a label

Huh? Nobody’s saying that at all

And my comparison does make sense

You said you don’t care about sampling if the resulting work doesn’t make a ton of money

That’s equivalent to your boss asking you to come in for an hour of work unpaid because the paid amount is small

Either music has value or it doesn’t. It’s not dependent on the amount

I’ve said numerous times artists can release songs with uncleared samples all they want, I don’t care. Same way I don’t care if someone steals food from Target. But if you choose to do that, understand that there are risks that come with it

I’m just asking for fairness on sample clearance prices

If me and Drake both sample a song he should absolutely pay more than me. His song is gonna bring in x100 the revenue

There’s absolutely no reason Danny should’ve went in debt and couldn’t even recoup the money for AE sample clearance

I agree but that determination comes down to who owns the rights of the song being sampled
