I think Boba Fett was fan service but I don't see how Luke and Ahsoka are fan service when they're the only logical picks for Jedi at this time

fan service is when something happens with no clear reason or view for the larger story

I think Ahsoka is still looking for Ezra and Luke is just about to start a new Jedi academy

towards the end of Season 1 he gets his quest to go find a Jedi and it seemed pretty obvious it would have to be Luke or Ahsoka
