I actually agree that it’s largely inflated by nostalgia but we’re also talking about movies that came out in the 70s so context is important. The impressions these movies made on us were done largely at an early age. It’s only in hindsight, especially having sat in reality for so long, are we able to look back and see its flaws. I don’t necessarily think that suddenly makes any of the movies bad. The films are what they are. It’s only our perspectives that have changed. Some are able to hold on longer than others.

Duel of the Fates

In Anh Lucas does a mediocre job with the exposition of his story's universe and "the force". "The force" only works now cause majority of Americans were exposed to star wars at a early age, without really thinking about how poorly thought out it is. Esb does a better job explaining the force, but it's still not a proper functional plot point.

I think because I didn't watch star wars until I was 16 and I watched the prequels first.

This is why I enjoy the prequels cause actually had the time to flesh out how his universe functions.

ANH has some problems but there's a reason it was so big there was nothing like that at the time it's easy to point out some of the flaws now because we've seen many movies do these tropes better and have better character development but a lot of setbacks were due to tech limitations. If george had the tech we had today i can guarantee that old ass nigga obi wan would've been doing back flips and s*** against vader and leias planet getting blown up would've been more dramatic.
