Fam, I’m probably the biggest Drake fan I know. I’m tuning in, buying the album, and getting lit when he goes on tour. I like Toosie Slide, but I’m acknowledging that I want more from him on the album. It’s getting a lot of unwarranted backlash, but the backlash is still there and should be acknowledged. He’s a certified goat already but I want this album to be as well received as Take Care, NWTS, or IYTITL. If not more so actually. The nigga has a two year old kid now. This is the first album where his life is actually different from the past 10 years for real. There are endless possibilities for new content surrounding his new reality. Those experiences can and should inform the content of the album cuts (which I’m sure they will) and the hits. Toosie Slide, which I like, does not do this. Issa bop. It bumps in the whip. It’ll probably do hella numbers but I need that fire flame from dude and it just isn’t that.

Song has a radio deal, it will have around 40 million streams and 50 million radio audience impressions by the end of the week which should be enough to compete for #1

The thing is the people who are doing it aren't getting alot of likes on their videos, which is discouraging since that makes it seem like it doesnt have "hype" for others to start hoping on the trend.

Drake is at the point in his career where everything he does gets hated on and then a couple weeks later when people feel confident enough to form their own opinion they switch and admit they like it and always did. If you’re expecting rave reviews, accolades and unanimous love for anything Drake does you will be disappointed because the hate goes viral and we live in attention whoring times. I too would love for people to listen to music objectively (across the board not just with Drake) and give an honest opinion but unfortunately I think those days are long gone.

Toosie Slide a fun song it wasn’t made to be put on the same level as a When to Day When, Omertà, Chicago Freestyle etc take it for what it is a cheesy song to dance to while we are stuck in the house (the lyrics outside of the dance steps are actually 🔥). This is not my favourite type of song from Drake I don’t like songs that come with a dance but it’s not to be taken as serious as some people are.

I agree that it’s just a fun song....I was literally just bumping it. I like it a lot. However, as a Drake stan, I can still acknowledge that this was just a layup banger. If it’s just for the moment and a causal number one record then I’m all for it. If it’s on the album then I’ll be slightly disappointed even if it’s only a bonus.
