idk why there’s panic around DC movies. I think it was pretty obvious from the trailers that Supergirl wasn’t gonna do well and might be an average / bad movie. It sucks but that’s what’s happening. Clayface looks good. Superman was good. I don’t see any reason anyone should panic. Ignore them doom and gloom people on social media. If Clayface sucks, okay we can actually be worried. But DC is fine for now.

In truth we don't ever truly know what the marketing budgets are for any movie.
Because even the "2x the budget rule" is 100% true, the rule never takes into account things like Sponsorships, Product placements, collaborations, etc.
When the Sonic movies are name dropping Olive Garden 10x Per movie, Olive Garden is likely paying some of that marketing budget. And the same goes for any movie.

Even "break even points" given by articles are just estimates. Point is, even in a world where this movie debuted at 90%+ on RT, i highly doubt that James Gunn and WB expected Supergirl to outdo Superman.
