They gotta release the list of other songs they considered for that final needle drop
Is it wrong that I found Kara’s backstory the most compelling part of the film? Would love a whole movie dedicated to her time on earth initially with Clark. Learning the language and trying to assimilate but ultimately leaving. This movie feels like the sequel to that movie. I feel like I don’t even know Kara like that. This film feels like it was made for people who have a sense of familiarity with some of these characters. Even Lobo you can tell by the way he’s presented, it comes off as some sort of inside joke with the audience that know about him. Who is this guy? Is he a hero, a villain? Something else? His entire purpose in this films feels more like a shoehorn than anything truly organic. Increasingly films like this, Superman, s*** even the Michael Jackson biopic operate as if the audience is already aware of who these people are and don’t do any of the work to actually develop these characters. It’s sort of annoying as a new viewer who doesn’t really know too much. I’m not saying I need my hand held, like they didn’t really go super in depth with the red sun, yellow sun stuff, but I got it but still, I would’ve loved more background.
And I’m confused with the timeline here. Kara left krypton at 13? She got to earth when? Because Clark was already Superman when she got there but in the Superman movie he had only been Superman for what? 2 years? I don’t remember. And supergirl is 23 now? So what happened in those ten years.

That’s just 2 years since he announced he was Superman so I guess he could’ve technically just not have announced himself to the world yet. Feel like he mentioned Metropolis though so idk.

“Announced” meaning there was a time where he was perhaps “saving the world” but people didn’t know about who he was?
I liked it. While I was watching, I kept waiting for the film to become trash and….it just didn’t.
The film undoubtedly has flaws. Inconsistent CGI, especially in the final act. Ruthye’s actress wasn’t very good. And that needledrop at the end wasn’t a good choice
But the movie kept me throughly entertained, Milly’s performance was great, and I was invested in Kara’s story from beginning to end. Also I’d love to see a Superman x Supergirl team up movie one day, they have good chemistry
A lot of the hate for this online feels extremely overblown and performative . It definitely felt like your stereotypical super hero story, but its a cool movie
7/10

Maybe or just that’s when he decided to start being Superman and he was prepping before then lol idk
I mean he did say he never read the comic before making this so I believe it’s his vision lol but most of the hate has been towards Gunn since the reviews came out.
Wasn’t his vision to adapt the comic it feels like
