episode 6 explains her motive, especially with the sleepover incident. Her obsession with the nijah had more to do with it being a shared interest between her and her sister than just pure stannery
it is that but its also the literal explanation to so many things that are touched upon but never directly explained throughout the show until now dre's real connection with marissa, the spilling the milk thing, her desire for constant connection with someone, why she isnt connected with her family
the rest of the show plays all these as things they might want you to think about and the documentary episode just throws it all out the window and gives you cement answers but none of them are really crazy enough to justify some big reveal it all feels so strange coming from the team behind atlanta especially when this was one of their notes for that show and is something theyve done so well before

Word word I get what you saying. I’m honestly not the biggest fan of flashbacks
It’s time to give Bino a shot at directing a movie
Meh. Wasn’t crazy about the film he did direct.

Don’t talk bout him like he’s the same Bino from 9 years ago he’s at a higher place

what's the thread consensus
sadly, it's a miss for me
great cinematography and performance from Fishback and some of the special guests, but the storytelling was just too disjointed imo
by the third episode I thought the killing got repetitive. there was nothing at stake, Dre was gonna kill some innocent person and get away with it, and there was no conflict or real growth for the character
I liked episode 4 and thought we were about to see some growth or reflection from Dre cause of the therapy sessions but that quickly and predictably ended
then episode 6 went completely off the rails. did y'all like that? cause I had the same issue with it as I had with the Atlanta Goofy Movie episode that a lot of people loved. never wanna see a fake reality show forced into a season again. just a cheap storytelling trick to force exposition and character background into a show that lacked it. it wasn't the least bit funny, interesting or unique imo
finale was a let down too and too many unrealistic scenes
just a show that lacked stakes, growth, and tension. excessive violence and some surprise guest stars couldn't make up for it. Atlanta is one of my favorite shows but this is nowhere near it imo
tldr: 👎
Episode 6 was a creative mindfucking way to tell us what actually happened when she rushed the stage right? Then the finale showed us how unhinged her mind perceived reality by the end

pretty much just summed up my feelings about it
Episode 6 was a creative mindfucking way to tell us what actually happened when she rushed the stage right? Then the finale showed us how unhinged her mind perceived reality by the end
Pretty much. Ultimately, Dre did achieve her goal of going to the concert and "meeting" Ni'jah. In her mind, it went how she envisioned it would hence her "happy ending". But the reality is she was probably jumped and tased by the concert security, which could've caused her delusional episode where she saw Marissa as Ni'jah.
The fifth and sixth episodes do a great job of giving background to Dre and Marissa's relationship/friendship, and sets up why Dre sees Marissa as Ni'jah perfectly. I think it's explicitly stated that Dre loves Marissa and Ni'jah the most because they were the first/only ones to look at her like a human being and love her. Which is why Dre went so crazy and so hard for that Ni'jah show.
It's kinda sad because clearly she feels guilt about not being there for Marissa and she ended up killing herself (?) But then you remember she killed like 8-10 people throughout the show and you just like...
