I think the war propagnada and videogames (yeah) play their part too
youre an idiot
Spree shooting is a relatively recent thing

Is there any kind of correlation with the rise of popularity in war blockbusters and videogames? or I’m tripping

I think the war propaganda and video games are a consequence of mentalities that were already there.
As someone else said in this thread, America was built on those gun violence/militaristic/conquering/"nobody can tell us what to do" ideas from the jump and never looked back.
From the Boston tea party, to slavery to the conquest of the indigenous territories to the interference in sovereign states around the globe etc etc.
It takes more than just police to prevent crimes. It takes a community. Some leaks don’t need a plumber, others need for us to mitigate the flood before they arrive. Problem solving starts with us first.
Oh look, the genius who thinks more police in the city with the most police per square inch will fix things lol
I could give a DAMN about the rest of the city. What do y’all f***ing idiots not get about an increased police presence in the TRAIN STATIONS. Idc if you reduce the presence literally EVERYWHERE else other than areas of public transportation. Go ahead. Cut funding and allocate it elsewhere. All I’m asking is to use the current resources on s*** that matters like the safety of public transportation. If they’re going to exist with a $10B budget why would you not advocate for them to utilize it towards something positive? Never said it wasn’t too high.

Damn video games didnt exist until 2010?
this man said video games with his chest
found jack thompson alt
Video games are marginal. Tons of other countries have video games
Video games as a recruiting tool for the military in the US is very real. The scale of the violence is on a whole other echelon compared to mass shootings.

the community doesnt care about these people
get it through your head
if the community cared we'd have ubi, free education, free transit, efc

No lol, video games don't make people more violent by any metric

no it's not

Probably a much heavier correlation with internet access/speed/proliferation
Every national culture has a violent core to it, it just matters what brings it to the surface
Violence and sexuality is the dialectic that shaped humanity
If you want to get deeper into this, we have to examine modernity and post-modernity itself.
honestly it's probably just a snowball/pandoras box opened thing with mass shootings.
once they started getting heavily covered and more in the public psyche, more people who intend to do harm decide to go that route. media plays a huge part in it
Yeah exactly.
But who knows, maybe NY is a different place where they do deter crime
I know y'all remember about that news article about a woman who was raped for like 6 hours on the subway.
Didn't they got an increase to their budget after that story?
that was Philly
so proud of my city
idk abt after that story but there's very likely gnna be some kind of increase in police budget soonish, this lil white kid got murked broad daylight like 2 blocks off temple campus, and yk when the white kids start getting shot its over
