How come we say Joker influences culture but video games dont

More so the other way around i would say, video games are more another medium of culture than an influence on culture

When did I say it was the videogames fault? I play first person shooters since I’m a kid bro. You don’t understand my point.

And why are you saying parents shouldn’t let children play video games if you are saying they have nothing wrong?

because mature content isnt the same as bad content

The Wire has content that is very relevant and important but i wouldnt let my kids watch it cause its not appropriate for them

Yes the NYPD budget is insanely high

Yes taxpayer money should be used on systemic issues such as poverty which in turn will reduce the amount of crime

And yes putting more police officers in subway stations with funding that wait for it, ALREADY EXISTS, would make public transportation even a tiny bit of a safer experience

This all or nothing ass approach is so f***in ridiculous and is why nothing ultimately ever changes

Oh yeah because no kids in the world play +17 games!!!

I’m not saying playing call of duty instantly makes you a mass shooter or a psycho bro, I’m saying that these violent games could be a minor factor in the rise of shootings in the last 20 years

You are lying to yourself (and do not know many people in the military for that matter) if you think their reason for joining the service was to play with guns than to receive benefits that should be basic human rights.

It’s not even worth arguing with these kinds of ppl man. They’d rather sit around and b**** about everything being wrong than do anything that will make the world a better & safer place even by the smallest measurement. If everything can’t be fixed then nothing should be fixed in their fantasy worlds

    tf are u talking about?

Joker isn't a culture influencer. He is just a representation for weirdos who were like that before.

You acknowledge playing a violent video game is fun
Is it so far fetched to think some not well of mind would take that to reality

Driving a car into a lake on GTA is fun but if you think that translates into reality you are beyond the point of sanity anyway

He doesn’t influence culture. All those joker memes are making fun of him and edgy dudes who take their fandom of him to another level.

Nobody actually wants to be like him and emulate him like that. Some people just like his aesthetic

but theyre not and there is empirical evidence to the contrary

if parents let their kids play games that are not marketed towards kids how is that the fault of the game lmao

Honestly we talk about this s*** with rap all the time. Especially drill on here.

You don't become a gangster because you listen to gangster rap. It's the material conditions. It's where you're born, the economy there, the policing, the access to d****, the d*** laws etc. Crime actually dropped off as gangster rap took off.

BUT when the material conditions are correct for something, the culture can reinforce it.

The solutions aren't taking away video games or rap music. Don't worry gamers. It's okay. Let your heart rate return to normal

Speaking of Joker/Batman I definitely think the whole Riddler closed message board radical conspirator storyline is a pretty poignant look at how some of these guys emerge and develop.

i 1000% agree most people joining the military in the united states are doing it our of economic desperation. it's the largest job employer in the us. you're also lying to yourself (or your high school didn't have a jrotc program) if you think no one is joining the military because they love war movies and games and have been desensitized to what they're really joining for

but still the us military very clearly knows how they're marketing and what demographic they feel like theyre gonna get the most return from.

No and i didnt say otherwise

However that doesnt happen as much as conservative media says it does and there is a mountain of evidence to support that claim

In fact the video games argument is a strawman that pro gun activists use to draw attention AWAY from the gun control debate
