Liked it, didnāt love it
3.5/5 for me
Movie felt a bit underdeveloped for me. All the actors fit the roles perfectly so thatās not an issue. Just felt like we should have got more with character development
Also I was super underwhelmed with the mid credits scene. I full expected Doom but was definitely let down. Felt like a nothing mid credits scene (not as bad Superman but ehh)
Overall, itās a solid film that could have been so much more
I wish they had more fight scenes with silver surfer feel like she was underused
I was ready to feel that way but I think that was the best looking CGI baby I've ever seen
Idk bro s*** was clearly CGI to me

Mid-credit scene felt tacked/ last minute asf

Wasnāt even Robert Downey huh

Feel like they will inevitably pick up from there so I think itāll seem impactful in hindsight
This movie is probably hitting at an 8/10 for me, but it really kills me to know that this could have easily been in the 9s with an additional 10 minutes or so i) highlighting the team in action/using their powers, ii) giving us a glimpse of their personalities outside of the Baxter Building and in the real world, and iii) with a more fleshed out introduction to Galactus.
The cast is really strong ā I fully buy into all of them as their characters, especially Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. Visually, heās a monster, but itās his heart and softness that truly captivate. The teamās chemistry is amazing and thinking back to the press tour, itās incredibly clear how genuine that connection is. With that said, while I love Ebonās performance, The Thing clearly takes a back-seat here while Reed, Sue, and Johnny are highlighted.
The action in this movie was lacking; I wasnāt even sure that we were going to get to see Reed do anything and when we did, it was admittedly dumb. I would have liked to see him distort his body in different ways and even see some Marvel Rivals-esque moves. The movie states that they have had their powers for 4 years, but it seemed like Reedās first time outside of his lab.
I wish that we were able to see Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben in the real world, buying more than just black and white cookies on Yancy Street. Letās see Johnny on dates, Sue and Reed out to dinner, SOMETHING. They were in the Baxter Building the entire movie. Shakman created this beautiful world and we really only got a high-level glimpse into it.
How is any non-comic fan supposed to understand who Galactus is? He was given absolutely zero backstory and was in this movie a lot less than I anticipated. I feel like some context behind not only him, but his exact reason for wanting Franklin would have created higher stakes for this movie. Does the general audience really understand why Galactus would want Franklin and his powers? It was briefly explained within a single breathe, but I donāt think many people picked up on that outside of the comic-heads.
In conclusion, this could arguably have been a top 5 MCU movie if the things I mentioned hadnāt been missing. Still, itās a great representation of the Fantastic Four and most importantly, gives us actual character development, something that was seemingly forgotten at Marvel over the last few years. Iām excited to see them not only together again, but also separately as they interact with our other favorite characters.
You nailed it perfectly. My exact thoughts.
Feel like they will inevitably pick up from there so I think itāll seem impactful in hindsight
Hope so, ig I like it in the grand scheme of things coupled with thunderbolts. Just feels like they couldāve cooked harder w it
I wish they had more fight scenes with silver surfer feel like she was underused
Wanted more action in general, have I become a slop enjoyer
Galactus was done dirty bad lmao
Movie itself was kinda mid
How so
good movie - paced well (but also felt too obviously cut up, idk if thats marketing making me notice more tho) - mcu is back again 4/5
It was alright. Loved the casting and canāt wait to see them interact with mainline mcu. With that I have no idea how doomsday is going to work when weāve gotten legitimately no buildup to doom at all and he just suddenly appears? Does he have access to kangs time travel tech? Is he a peer of reeds? They have a lot of explaining to do.
Also Franklin is definitely going to reset the entire universe at the end of all of this

I need half the movie to show doom causing the incursions. Doing rabum alal business, and finding Loki. Also have doctor strange exploring too, have them meet. Other half can be fast paced action with the final incursion on 616.
bro the doom part was cool but also liek legit wish it was more
this movie was great though i loved everything
As someone who grew up on fallout 3, bioshock 1/2/infinite, portal 1 and 2, all the āin universeā scientific footage, educational videos, TV footage, cartoons, news segments etc were extremely cool. Thatās my fav type of s***.
severance is also is very pleasing to me in that regard
Am I crazy to say that Thunderbolts was better as an overall movie?
Again, I liked this a lot - but itās missing a lot which Iāll get into
Not really sure how I feel about the movie. Amazing visuals, but the story felt hollow? Not sure how to properly explain. I want to watch it again cause maybe I was missing something but it definitely did not scratch that itch I was hoping for. I think Thunderbolts* clears this by a good amount.
I was really wanting to like this, I even got really excited when it was getting closer to watching but nothing really got me thrilled or hype? Not saying that's the only measure to have for a movie but it just felt like something was off or missing overall. Like it was just consistently fine but nothing that its potential ceiling could be.
Wonder why they didnāt do a practical set for Galactus? Have him in a practical suit and create a set thatās scaled down? He looked like a PS3 character.
S*** was pretty average if we being real
Idk bro s*** was clearly CGI to me
i guess so
maybe it's cause i saw it in 3d
and I was expecting it to look like the Superman alien baby, which I thought looked like ass, but then again it's an alien
