i’ve listened to the podcast and fw it since 2015 but i feel like certain convos would be able to develop so much further if they tried harder with the research

most media people that do sensationalist stuff for the sake of content are inherently going to monetize trauma or pain.

but i have a real gripe with people that responded to these guys coming at adam22 for monetizing black trauma by saying “joe does the same thing on his show”.

because in watching this podcast for years, i’ve seen him purposefully avoid any talk about real street s*** as it’s developing and taking place. and i’ve never seen him use someone’s death to get his numbers up.

i’ve seen the rory & mal breakup and pusha t interview used as ammunition for that argument. but neither of these things are actual black trauma or pain. it’s upper class/rich people drama lol. if you think a podcaster firing his cohosts or interviewing a millionaire rapper about his beef with another millionaire rapper that has never gotten anywhere close to violent constitutes as “profiting off black trauma”, you can’t be black lol.

it’s already questionable to clip an interview you hadn’t clipped before to get it traction after someone dies. but to monetize the clips is CRAZY. and to sit in a room full of grown men and say you only monetized it so it can help the video in the algorithm is CRAZIER lmao. nigga i just watched 1090 jake upload a video about pnb rock that hit 500k before i saw an ad on it. videos are doing well without ads, and your goal shouldn’t be for the video to do well, if you want to make the content accessible for people, let the people come to it organically whether monetizing it helps it or not.
