Damn. Cause Rory and Mal were talking about Lil Wayne on their show. Rory was defending him while Mal was trying to say that he wasn’t that good of an artist. Initially he said Ross was a better rap artist then he kept throwing LL Cool J over him.

It’s crazy to me that they have Joe at number 1 when he continues to say he don’t listen to hip hop, that he don’t care about rap and that his podcast is not a hip hop podcast

i feel you, because joe rarely breaks down an album nowadays and rap isn’t really the main topic unless something major happened

but to his credit, he does interview a lot of rappers and music/the industry surrounding music

that list had a lot wrong with it but having nardwuar and fantano on a hip-hop media list is just CRAZY to me lmao. they are not hip-hop guys

not including craig jenkins or any of the other various consistently GREAT writers, likely because we don’t see their face often and they don’t have their own platforms is nasty to me.

i know it’s a power ranking thing but there is a power to great writing and true journalism. that power is what makes pitchfork such a popular site and that’s why complex’s lists have always been a big topic when they drop. these writers aren’t famous but their takes and criticism carry weighy and illicit a reaction
