I think playing as Abby was necessary in order to change up the gameplay a bit

s*** just felt like a chore, and didnt feel much different than ellie

honest question, did anyone like the ending?

  • playing as Abby for that long was insufferable PRIMARILY because it came right after she captured tommy. It ruined all the tension and suspense. It ended up being, atleast for me, a race to finish the section to find out what happened rather than me fully absorbing and enjoying the Abby days

I really, really do think the game would have benefited from

    a linear narrative

This would have forced ND to heavily market Abby, which they didn’t want to do for whatever reason

in what context? For marketing purposes? They could have easily integrated Abby into the marketing without tipping their hand that Joel is killed in the intro. They were clearly fine “doctoring” certain things (like Jesse saying Joel’s line), so no reason they couldn’t have framed it as if Abby was a protagonist/one of the Jackson people

Holy s*** this game (story wise) is an embarrassment to the first game

It's really not. The only thing that i could see as being a bit iffy is Joel ending up at the place where Abby and her crew were staying. It ain't like he wasn't hesistant before and or during the arrival. Prior to that he had been recruiting/rescuing people with Tommy. I think that Joel deathscene was meant to be without warning just as those opposing him went out unexpectedly in the first game.

like u be playing as ellie and joel killing everyone and their friends left and right then get upset when 1 of YOUR characters friends gets killed lol

They've already established everyone is a villan in someones story so it's just a matter of who do you care about most
