I'm curious as to why Joel was lying to Tommy at the beginning of the game about not telling Ellie?
It goes from - He hasn't told Ellie the truth, he told her part of the truth to she's known all along.
Maybe I'm not remembering correctly but does anyone have any ideas as to why it was painted in that sequence?
i thought that scene when Joel and Tommy were talking was just after they reached Jackson from the first game.
Like by that time she still didnt know, it wasnt until a couple of years after that she decides to go back to the hospital and learn the truth.

Oh I just rewatched the intro, that makes a lot more sense now lol thanks! For some reason I remembered the guitar scene being a flashback after Joel rides into camp
This lines up with what I was discussing with someone in here about the guitar being the last connection to Joel

https://twitter.com/totallytrapped/status/1277014659388911616damn this makes me a little more happier
Ok so what's the take on the beach menu after you beat the game?
Abby and Lev made it to Catalina island
Abby and Lev made it to Catalina island
Damn... It kinda is a 'happy" ending for both Ellie & Abby.
replaying the game right now and i just realised ellie literally forgave joel the day after they had the porch conversation
There's 2 things in this game that bothered me way more than they should have and probably won't and shouldnt bother other people but I hate how big they made Abby and I hate how overexaggerated the hand to hand fight scenarios got.
There's a part where Abby brags about pushing 185 to one of her friends which I assume is her bench record but she built like hulk Hogan. 185 should be light work at that size lol.
In some of the 1v1 hand to hand combat encounters Ellie would legit throw her whole body on the ground to dodge a jab or straight lol. B**** went into the matrix every dodge. It made more sense vs zombies but it just actually bothered me how bad Abby was at throwing punches for a he man shaped ass military person. Doesn't take away from the game but these things legit took me out of the game sometimes

For your first point, that’s during a flashback before she got super jacked. Her and Owen are doing basic training so assuming that was shortly after they joined WLF
I hope to God there is no TLOU3 let this story end
This game was a disgrace
F*** outta here
if you think the ending up was bad you are literally stupid as f*** no other way to put it.
the game isn't black or white in fact the world of the last of us isn't black or white. saying this static thing happened and i'm not happy with it is such a cop out, there are so many intricacies to the plot and choices characters make.
Having an opinion about a video game doesn’t make you dumb . This post ain’t it
I think you completely missed what I said. I understand the relationship part. I'm more so speaking on Abby's motivation and how they wanted us to care about her. The revenge plot is a cool concept, just not with Abby. They wanted us to feel sympathy for her and just when you do start to be like "ight I get it" they throw in her flashback where clearly her dad was a piece of s*** and only saw other people as test subjects or experiments. He had no remorse that he was about to kill a child and not even give Joel a heads up. He only saw Ellie as what Marlene described as another specimen in a petri-dish.
Agreed! This was weak sauce! Especially when Abby comes in and tells her dad 'if it was me, I'd want you to do it' LMAO it's not that simple!
"Abby's dad is a pos because of one scene where he weighs the death of one versus the saving of countless lives"
glad I managed to go into the game blind with no news/spoilers. played tlou and had a quick refresh watching all the cutscenes the night before launch. led right into the game
disagreed with some choices they made but the experience was fantastic
I had a look at the number of chapters in the game and held off for nearly a week before finishing santa barbra. otherwise I would have finished this on tuesday/wednesday last week.
hope more games can match this moving forward

sad thing is most of reddit actually believes this
and then they say "well he pulled a knife on Joel. He deserved to die!" mfers sounding like some bootlickers

Things are completely black and white to them lol

THE F***ING SOLDIERS ARE THE BOOTS
IF YOU LIKED THE FIREFLIES YOU ARE THE BOOTLICKERS
THEY WANTED TO KILL ELLIE FOR A CURE THAT IS USELESS IF THERE ARE ALREADY MILLIONS OF ZOMBIES RIPPING YOUR HEAD OFF. NO CURE FOR THAT.
Some of yall just sound legit dumb lol
Next time @ me. He wasn't weighing anything. Go back and watch the cutscene or watch the scene where Marlene tells Joel. The whole argument turned into that this isn't just a specimen in a petri-dish and that he was treating this more as a hunch or experiment than the weight of the world is on his shoulders. He wasn't sure how this would go or what his next step is. That was Marlene's entire point of the argument. Ellie was a child and that Joel who bonded with her should know that this isn't a sure fire surgery and that she could be sacrificing her life for no reason. That's why when Abby came in and said "If it was me I would go though with the surgery" he sat and thought like it's way more complicated than what Abby was thinking. So yes her dad was being made out to be a piece of s*** in that scene. Idk where you got he was weighing the death of one vs saving countless from.

abbys dads words, quoted verbatim
"I'm aware of the situation"
"No, I'm okay with developing a vaccine that will save millions of lives."
"I am begging you to buy in"
"all of the things we've been fighting for....all of that is justified with this one act"
And none of this is said in such a coldhearted tone that indicates he doesn't understand the complicated morality of his decision. he appears to be very stressed by the idea of what he has to do.
you're acting like he just went to marlene and said "yeah we've gotta kill her to get the vaccine, but thats ok because it will save a ton of people." that isn't what happened.
and fym he wasn't aware of how this would go lol? there is absolutely nothing in the scene that would lead one to believe that he has doubts that this will lead to a vaccine or that there's a chance it will be for nothing.

you do realize that if a vaccine was invented they probably wouldn't just go around trying to shoot em into zombies right?
The vaccine would be administered to factions all around that can use it on themselves if they get bitten while they kill all the remaining zombies left.

yeah but getting killed by zombies was always the issue
you get torn to shreds by zombies like 100s of times in this game
The threat in both of these games is never getting bitten and becoming sick later
The cure would only have been useful before most people had turned to zombies, now the entire continent is covered in zombies and it’s just as likely to get you killed even if you’re immune

considering we seeing rednecks in Jackson going out and doing just fine against killing hordes of zombies, I am sure people like the fireflies or WLF or whoever would fare even better considering how much they were able to progress their organizations until the REAL PROBLEM (people) f***ed them up.
