We can all collectively agree Owen is the worst character in this game
Terrible take. He's a great, complex character.

Cheating on your pregnant wife really has levels to it huh

Yes?!
Thats clearly not just some black and white characterisation
Having no levels to his character would be that he never cheated on Mel.
He has a ton of depth. Unresolved feelings for Abby. Not made clear what broke them up, but its pretty fair to suggest either Abby couldnt handle a relationship post her fathers death, or the toll of that emotionally on her was too much for Owen.
Then rushing into a relationship with Mel, half-heartedly, and knocking her up. Feeling a ton of resistance towards that, given how he goes awol after they return from Jackson. As well as a ton of mixed feelings over what they did to Joel.
The fact that he takes a stance early on expressing that he believes they're going too far. Shedding light on the potential repurcussions.
His fixation with the Aquariam and the freedom and solitude it provides. His childlike nature at times, set at odds against the harsh world.
His casting of doubt over the whole idea of fighting the Scars. Stemming from him quickly understanding they're no different, just looking for some hope to hang onto. Him, in part, realising this because of the kids who lived in the aquariam.
His whole desire to still try and mend the world, loyalty to the fireflies, and questioning what they are fighting for.
His pretty depressing belief at the end that he and Abby can still make things work.
So many multitudes. There's no way you can justify saying he has no levels.
This dude wrote paragraphs for OWEN lmfaoo I’m crying
Owen has depth...he just corny as hell.
All of abbys side characters were mid especially dude who's defining characteristic was that he's Hispanic

I hated him as soon as he spat on Joel

I still f*** with Manny though. Manny, Lev, Yara, Isacc, and Alice (lol) were all cool. Owen a lame and Mel is mad passive aggressive..giving me strong Karen vibes.
On my new game plus
Love the story but only odd thing was how they built up Manny/Abby friendship but when Tommy pops Manny, she doesn’t seem too effected and just says let’s go get Lev lol

You can honestly use that to describe literally every side char death from both sides other than Owen and Joel...at least if we're talking in the POV of Abby and Ellie
the side of the spectrum that really loves this game has been bigging up this ending for so many weeks and I just dont see it tbh. maybe it'd feel different if I played it instead of watching it though. Ive played a scrap like this in a different game that did feel fairly impactful.
I also feel like they could've given Ellie the "lesson" without making you travel for another 40 minutes. maybe seeing all that dehumanizing s*** was supposed to be the last ditch effort to get us (the camp that really f***ing hated abby) to empathize with her though

I don’t see the ending as anything phenomenal tbh. I mainly just see it as the repercussions that Ellie has to deal with as a result of being so consumed by revenge. I’m pretty sure naughty dog intended for the ending to feel empty and for us to feel the same way Ellie does in that spot.

and that's my thought. it was just like a thud. like getting hit with a golf club but instead of it being multiple swings, just one thud and its done. no one's a winner, no one seems more remarkable in the end
but alot of people have made it seem like this thing that'll drive you to tears, and I just didnt get that. we're so distanced from Ellie by that point and I just don't think enough people truly care about Abby to feel real sadness for how she played out
