I don’t think anyone itt has listened to a single three six mafia album

Ive been saying this for years now---just in much harsher terms than OP lol

Once again you watch da video?
South ruined hip hop. Should've stayed in NY-WC. No midwest, no north, no Canada, no south. Influence and impact they've had on everything from music, to education, has been downright horrendous.
Worst thing is the fans are still lining up for another album of Future slop, Young Thug, Carti, 21, Lil Baby, Drake, Travis etc... those guys remind me of the "Frat Pack" comedy guys that ran movies in the 2000s and now are mostly seen as outdated losers. Only difference is rap fans don't got nobody else to turn to--so they're still at the top of the mainstream 15-20 years later
Country and pop lapping the genre currently is the best thing that can happen
This what niggas THINK I’m saying lmaoooooooooo
My video does not condone this

Just a joke about how they were hustling mixtapes for years. That's how they linked up from opposite sides of Memphis. Circulating cassettes. The whole city was very DIY.
I think everyone in my generation heard Three 6 Mafia though. They had Top 40 hits and ringtones. They were on MTV. They won an Oscar. That was the most visible era for southern rap. The rise of pop trap. I knew more people who listened to Wu-Tang and Three 6 than Outkast.

00’s three six isn’t the same.
Mystic stylez, the end, world domination and mista don’t play are all essential listens
They set the tone for everything we got going on minus the autotune
And they did this in the early mid 90’s

Yeah, all that went from Limewire to burnt CDs to your cousin's boyfriend's car speakers. I was there. They weren't listening to the new Wu-Tang either

It's time to retire the "they don't even know about 90's 3 6 mafia/SGP influence" talking point. It hit 10 years ago but everyone knows now.

If it was known we wouldn’t be having this discussion

This convo is above that. Its about the region as a whole throughout the eras. U should watch OPs video.

thing is I don’t think they do, most people are just mass adding that music to a playlist and hitting shuffle play so they can say they know about it lol, that’s always been a thing since before even streaming started with Spotify playlists

ah yes, Jadakiss and every NY rapper still in beef at 50 year olds is definitely not outdated
Jesus Christ man what ya’ll be on lmfao…my fault, podcasts

No, no it’s not. I watched the video and I think it’s missing context. The argument is basically southern artist have so much sauce they make it look easy and inspire less talented individuals to hop into the genre
My argument is the south earned its dominance and what’s happening today is a product of commercialization.

Commercialization played a part but so did the aspect of having fun and wanting to get the party lit and rejecting anything outside of that. The south turning being lyrical into a meme as payback for how NY did them in the 90s and it hurt the genre in the long run.

Yeah, u got me f***ed up. I grew up off Wayne, Outkast, UGK, and 8ball and MJG. I was listening to Jeezy and wop as they were dropping, I think Flockaveli is a classic, and 90s 3 6 mafia was the reason I started making beats. My first beat was literally mimicking Ridin In Da Chevy. I can link it if u want.
We can have the convo but it's going to take nuance and not u lashing out about niggas just hating the south. Lmk if u wanna have it.

I’m not lashing out I’m just questioning your validity in this argument. So how you grew up listening to southern rappers but reduce it all to ringtone rap?
You said the south treated lyricism as joke to get back at the north but you know Wayne OutKast ugk and 8 ball and mjg were all dropping classics at the time
Make it make sense
