Just the amount of emotions and feeling I’ve gone through on only a few listens…I still can’t even begin to piece how different I feel, and have grown, as dumb as it sounds, in this small period of time that it’s been out. And that’s absolutely nothing against Dawn FM….but Kendrick has a voice that speaks to me, that Abel hasn’t had the means to convey through his music (yet maybe). And that’s okay because it is what it is….but god damn, Mr. Morale is by far my album of the year.

And I would hope Abel isn’t the type to feel some type of way because of another album by a critically acclaimed artist taking the the spotlight….but I do wonder if it makes him think about where his career is gonna take him as he grows older. He can’t be The Weeknd forever….

I wonder what Lamar thinks of this album, I know for a fact it made him do some thinking because of stuff I’ve seen him tweet over the years and obviously, black

God it’s just so crazy to me seeing the parallels in the message of the album vs. the life of Abel…his childhood, a lack of a father, a tumultuous love life rife with infidelity, struggling with “Am I black enough?” (Dawn FM being a f*** you to that which I love). Idk how celebrities especially artists feel about listening to others’ work but knowing Abel I would hope he sees how he can make a connection

I can’t imagine hearing him match anything sonically tbh, maybe because their collabs have been too straightforward compare to all the non-conceptual songs on Mr. Morale

I really want to see him making an project out of character in the next years. I can see him doing pop and being introspective in the likes of MJ Dangerous, talking about fame, race issues, society and s***. Kendrick showed hella maturity on Mr Morale and would be cool to see an mature version of an The Weeknd record.

I absolutely think it’s possible for him, he just has to tap into that part of himself. Now that doesn’t mean it’s a necessity at any point, but like you said, ala MJ and Dangerous, especially with how he looks up to him….I just KNOW that at certain points he wonders about how he would be perceived if he took that artistic leap.

That journey to Ethiopia sure could do a lot of good as far as introspection or inspiration. I mean quite clearly he’s inspired in the midst of another trilogy but I can’t lie and say that I haven’t yearned for him to touch on subjects beyond “The Weeknd”. It’s never been his MO and I’m not gonna expect it, but idk just realizing how Kendrick’s album has made me feel makes me look at him and Lamar in curiosity about their feelings on this, which I hope they would find the importance in listening to
