Skooly was the bridge between this and SoundCloud era melodic trap coming out of ATL. Happy Carti sampled Rich Kidz so more people can peep

expected to see Rich Kidz when i opened thread, was surprised not to see em, but op is right

    both can be true

Gucci & Jeezy weren’t singing the way Future/Thug & sons started singing on trap beats

Gucci had niggas like OJ da Juiceman on his roster doing the sound I’m trying to point out in the OP

Gucci was an entirely different style of trap with hella variety but I’m focusing on the melodic niggas at the time

this isn’t an attempt at revisionism, it literally sparked from a random conversation with a homie about our childhood and dance s***. I didn’t go to Gucci for trap s*** I could dance to often, I went to niggas like this lmao. just participate in the discussion and share your examples, we have established that there are know it alls who know better and anyone who knows trap knows what you said gang

and if we keep it all the way a bean, Ghetto Mafia was already locked in with UGK and BMF before Jeezy and Gucci showed up cause all them have openly said they used to listen to Ghetto Mafia heavy so

@Nujabes everyone played their part in trap being where it is today
