In recent years all he ever has to talk about when he raps (outside of album themes) is what he’s accomplished, where he’s at, flexing etc and it gets predictable/boring after awhile
if he wants a great rap-esque album he needs find something more interesting and meaningful to rap about IMO
He's spoken about this in an interview, saying rappers like Lupe, Wayne and Jay-Z inspired him to start rapping more about what was going on in his life, and that these new rap songs are super honest.

True, but to be fair kendrick is just a generally more conscious rapper than tyler so he doesn’t need to extremely commit to a theme in order for it to be meaningful (but damn definitely had a theme and was meaningful, just not as heavy as tpab)
Tyler isn’t like this and needs a strong theme in order to make an album meaningful
I admit flower boy was the closest he ever got to being meaningful without a strong theme but perhaps sexuality was actually the theme, that made it meaningful

Yeah, I’ve seen the interview where he praises jay-z for 4:44 for being honest and specific about his life..but I don’t need to explain why that album is meaningful vs just solely braggadocios
Basically I just think it’s less interesting to flex even if it’s realistic/honest and I totally get his influences, but i just don’t believe this perspective will result in a classic rap album from him
