Marshawn Lynch and Paul Pierce are Black men who avoided severe punishment. But they did so because they could afford the best high-powered legal teams who could negotiate plea deals and leverage their client’s public image. This isn’t evidence that race doesn’t matter; it’s evidence that extreme wealth (Class) can sometimes override racial bias in the legal system.
OJ Simpson got away with killing a white woman.
The key distinction is between the “average” Black person and the black elite athlete. Statistical disparities in DUI arrests and convictions are well-documented in studies (like those from the ACLU or Bureau of Justice Statistics), which show Black drivers are stopped, searched, and arrested for DUI at higher rates than white drivers, despite similar rates of actual impairment.
The system treats a famous millionaire differently than it treats a working-class person of the same race.

I live in Seattle, they love this nigga here bro. And his case was him sleep after hitting a stationary object then sleeping on the side of the road.
So, the example is bad because it conflates the experience of the ultra-wealthy 1% with the general population, ignoring the reality that the other 99% of Black drivers don’t have a team of lawyers and a publicist to get their charges reduced to a fine.
I agree for the average black man or woman it's a whole different ball game, but far as Ghetts goes I would imagine with his career he's made enough to be in the tier that can afford a good lawyer which is why I compared his legal situation with other rich black men.
This is basically like the Henry Ruggs situation, and even Ruggs is eligble for parole come August, which is almost similar to what Ghetts may end up serving with good behavior
