If you like handheld gaming + emulation it’s 100% worth it
For me personally this was a Switch killer. I can play games I wanted on switch that never came, games ther came to switch in a terrible state in much better quality. Games on switch that are expensive and even on sale have switch tax that cost me a few dollars on steam. This is easily the best handheld I’ve ever had in my life

never had a handheld system before :(
i've always wanted one though.
i have a pc at home and just don't know when i'd use a steamdeck but who knows maybe i'd prefer it over using my pc all the time.

It's a godsend if you travel even semi-frequently. Love using it on planes and at the hotel during downtime on work trips. It's basically replaced any need for a gaming laptop.
It can also be a nice thing to play outside of the chair. On your bed, on the couch, etc. I love playing on PC but sometimes I don't want to get back on a computer desk when I come back from work.
Boot it up, launch BOTW or Darkest Dungeon or whatever tf, and sit your ass on the couch like it's a console, for some casual gaming. Or go outside and chill somewhere and play some games while it's breezy outside. That's the big plus of portability.
That being said don't force yourself to find a reason to get the Deck. Now that they've gone through the backorders it's much easier to get one. Think it through cause while it's a bargain for the price, it's still a whole ass PC you're buying

Hmmm since you’ve never had one before it’s hard for me to say you might prefer it. Me I prefer playing handhelds and always have. Especially when I want to game and watch something like basketball or I just want to be cozy and play laying down. From a traveling perspective it’s amazing to have something like this if you travel often
Copped saints row 2 for $2 despite the port being s***. Gonna download gentleman of the row mod and hope for the best

Same idk why but so many games I had on PS5 (god of war, red dead, bioshock) just couldn't get into them, yet on the Deck it's a different story
Handhelds always been my thing though

This is legit the same case for me and highkey why I don’t mind double dipping to play on deck (especially when you can find keys for these games pretty cheap)

a lot of good points here. i like the idea of just gaming anywhere and not just at my desk because it can be uncomfortable after awhile
post kinda got me convinced ngl

All the complaints about this thing being too big are made by pussies fr
It’s the most comfortable s*** ever to hold & makes everything else feel like a cheap toy (if I go back to the switch now it feels like it could snap at any point)
Got a 1tb card coming tomorrow
Need to cop one soon

you deadass can’t use your PC anywhere except your desk, you can use a portable console anywhere
Can you play this on TV
Like I understand that the portable is the big reason people buy these, but I hate playing portable, my switch never leaves the dock. I'm just not into playing on a small screen anymore, I like seeing s*** on my TV.

I believe that's what the newly released dock is for?
