It truly works my nerves when people sell records on discogs and the description isn’t accurate. They put a record as Near Mint (NM) when the condition is really Good (G) at best. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️

imagine buying a record just to skip tracks or skits

Just put on the album and listen to it as the artist intended... if you wanna skip songs and do all that extra s*** buy a CD player or listen to spotify.

    This one notable too:

As a No Limit Records fan , i have the complete vinyl collection of the period 1997 -1999. Still tryin to collect the other years. But 1997 - 1999 the most famous years

I would just recommend looking at the sellers reviews/rating to see if they are reliable. Also, reaching out to a seller to negotiate a reasonable price for a record is good too, if they don’t give the option to make an offer. Most sellers actually have accurate descriptions but there are some that may not. If that’s the case, just hope for the best. I actually use Discogs for rare albums, or albums that are out of stock everywhere else.

ive been thinking about it and well

is there like any reason to get limited/special editions of records?

like whether i get first or fourth pressing, edition number out of 1000 or 15000 or 500, does it really even matter

ive been wrestling between the logic and emotional impulses with buying vinyl. i have limited my buying to only buying s*** i ADORE (mostly), as opposed to buying buzzy/current albums that i think are alright, so i have at least cut down a lot of my buying that way.

but what remains in this feeling, this push to want to get the exclusive s***.

and logically--- i mean, before i ever got into vinyl, i just wanted a all my favorite albums on vinyl so i could listen to them. that was it. i thought they were the same as CDs in that albums were available in vinyl format, and all came in black and you could just buy them from the artist website. so again, logically, all that matters it that i can get a copy on wax and thats it

but i guess we, or rather let me just speak for myself, I have tied more meaning to now which ones i buy. before when limited editions only really came out pre-order/release day, i felt like it documented that yeah, ive been f***ing w that s*** since it was out. but now, there's often so many variants that it doesnt matter. furthermore, like a quarter to half the time, theyll release a new variant later that's even better looking than release day variants.

and then im like, what is all this for? back when i was younger, maybe i had friends over and maybe they knew about this s***, they would be like "wow cool" but now that im older, no one most certainly even knows who the f*** are the artists behind these vinyl, much less gives a s*** about which edition i have.

so again i ask what is this all for?

it really just seems that it's only good for re-selling. because if i buy an album, and love it, then what will it matter which version i have. it does me no good if an album i love is worth 8 bucks or 250 on discogs cause i'm never going to sell it regardless.

idk. i was just thinking about this and was typing while i was thinking. maybe it'll help someone passing by who also finds themselves under this irrational curse

I feel this. F*** a special edition. As long as you can spin the record and listen to it as the Artist intended you too it's all good. The whole special edition thing is there way of getting you to experience fomo and a way for them to sell you bullshit you don't need.
